I found a second stash of my old LP's recently, and just finished listening to and recording these 6 Jazz and Classical direct-to-disc LP's from RealTime Records (which was a subsidiary of M&K Sound Corporation). I got these around 1980, if I recall.

Good stuff! I appreciate them now more than I did back in the 80's, since my taste in music has broadened considerably. I looked some of these up, and new ones are selling north of $50, with used ones going for about half that. I don't know how anyone could have an unopened copy after all these years but apparantly they exist.

Anyone else have, or remember, LP's from RealTime Records? The label never really seemed to catch on the way MFSL did. But their titles were pretty limited.

Don Menza was part of Buddy Rich's Big Band in the 60's. He wrote a lot of the charts too.

The recordings turned out great. I used a Tascam DV-RA1000HD that I got end of last year.

Here are a couple reviews of the Tascam unit if you're interested:

Very nice!!! In all my years of collecting records especially audiophile grade recordings, I've never heard of Real Time. You just brodened my vinyl horizon. Thanks Bubinga!!!

Yeah, there's not much info on RealTime Records via Google search, but here's a timeline with some info:
    http://www.kkprofessionalsound.com/timeline.htm (see 1978-1982)
It sounds like they were really on the bleeding edge, at the time, and Ken Kreisel (the "K" in M&K) was quite an innovator.

Wow that's right in the timeline when I was heavily purchasing audiophile pressings. I wonder how I missed it or maybe I just don't remember and have some in my buried collection. Dying brain cells perhaps?

Just an after thought; I had purchased dozens upon dozens of MFSL Original Master Recordings and the same with Telarc offerings as well as many Japanese and European pressings. I wonder if it was because they were marketed more than the Real Time records?

And the Sheldon LP is a gatefold with some good color pictures. (The pics look better than the camera that took them). Very nice, thanks for rekindling the memories.
