Up for consideration is a Parasound HCA 1000A

Bought off of e-bay last year & used for the outdoor patio with the Atrium 65's. (this is not the one I bought here from Mike Retter). It never missed a beat & sounded great with the Atrium's & gtp 400 . Separates are definitely the way to go, folks.Even with the secondary gear such as the patio system.

Since I have another one & SXSW is next week , I'm in need of some spending cash.

Polk price =$240.00 shipped Cont US only please OR local pick-up $200.00

Paypal / MO & obviously cash will be accepted in person

Original power cord included

Specs & Manual can be found here http://www.parasound.com/vintage/hca1000a.php

Great amp! Buy with confidence. I used one of these in a bi-amp configuration to power the high frequencies on my 1.2TLs. They had a certain sweetness in the high frequencies.

Question on the loop outputs, does the amp have to be turned on for those to be active, or is it just a passive pass through that works when the amp is off?

coolness for sure ...... I have it double boxed & ready to go .......

On a side note...if you are shipping something & need a sturdy box .... ask at your local supermarket/ grocery store in the MEAT dept..... the boxes that they receive their beef in ( like shoulder clods/ribeye/shortloins) are very sturdy & have reinforced corners

I have never used that feature ...from the parasound manual

This connector provides a way to trigger your amplifier on with an external DC voltage source ranging
from + 9 Vdc to +12 Vdc. With the main power switch on the off (down) position, the amplifier can be
turned on with voltage from any external DC source such as the +12 Vdc trigger from the Parasound P/
SP-1500. Since it is optically coupled, the DC trigger only requires 15 mA of current to activate the
circuitry and turn on the amplifier.

Just another tip . . . it has input level controls on it one for each channel, they should both be turned to full volume.

I sent the question to parasound service. I'll let you know if/when they get back to me. I might be interested depending on what the answer is, but no dibs for now.

Soooooooo, does that mean it is going to smell like meat?

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Thank you sooo very much snow. My SDAs cannot wait. Then when the cs350ls comes in it's gonna be like a whole new system. Think I will order a mw6502 on Monday so I can get the monitor 7s up and running. I think if the monitor 7Cs are still available down state when I go next week I might pick those up as well. Then I can have HT with mon. 7 all around, and a cs350ls as a center, then have the SDAs in a dedicated 2 ch. instead of having to switch the RCAs from reciver to pre for ht/2ch uses.

Your welcome Ted. I should have sent you an amp a long time ago. I hope it sounds as good as everyone says :)

Now if I could find a steal on a Thorrens I'd be set. Had to do a repair on one and it was 100x better than the elcheapo sony I have. I should see if he wants to sell one, I think he said he had 3 of them.

I have used the loop outputs to provide signal to a sub, but I don't know if they work when the amp is off....

Ahh geez..... now im going to get a big head :p I had told Ted that I would send him my spare amp as soon as my main amp was out of the repair shop and that has been a while back. Well that amp is still sitting in the shop awaiting repair along with a receiver which is finally getting worked on now. "Woo Hoo" and some other gear and it was time to make good on my word period. I have since had a few other amps come and go and he didndt get sent one of them, so once I seen he expressed interest in this one I seen my opportunity to make it happen even though it isnt the one I intended to send.

It's no big deal it's simply all about Karma and do unto others etc. :)

My wife and I were discussing you, GG, Rich, Jesse, Carl, Troy and a few others and she's blown away at the fact that I have so many friends out there all over the country and the generous nature of the people in Club Polk.

If I missed you in my list please forgive me as my mind isn't what it used to be.:o

She arrived today while we were out. Every thing looks fine, survived shipping just fine. I got a lot on the table over the weekend, and probably won't be intimate with her until next week. Gotta do a little rearranging too before I can hook it up. Also have to dig some RCAs out of storage. Next year will be some better interconnects ( most likely some PBJs)
