Polk TSi 400/500?
i have a pioneer 9040 with a pair of tsi300 towers and a cs10 center. i planned to add the 100/200's for rears but after some thought i've decided to move the 300's to the rear and get the tsi400's or 500's but not sure which set to get. also if i get the 500's, would i be better off with the cs20. i still have time to return the cs10. and would the 400's match with the cs10 or 20.
any input is welcome.

WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!
The answer to most of your questions is 'yes'....the 500s are your best choice...they should be matched to the CS20....the 400s will also do better for HT with the CS20 but can also be run with the CS10--I wouldn't do that because they'll sound better with a bigger center.
TSI-300s in the rear will give you a bit more ooomph....a number of people use towers as surrounds....
Definitely get the TSI-500s, return the CS10 for the CS20 and you'll have a nice package! That Pioneer is a nice unit, BTW!

+1 on cnh's recommendations. I recently put a pair of TSi 500's in the mix in sourround duty, wow they are awesome there, lol. Welcome to Club Polk.

i think i've decided to go with the 400's with the cs20. the 500's are just a tad out of my spending range lol thanks for the recommendations though
-
oh yeah, and about that pioneer...I LOVE THAT FREAKIN THING!!!
-
The 400's will not dissapoint, and they will make great surrounds when you save up enough for the 500's you really wanted, lol. Congrats and let us know when it is all set up.

Doh!! i forgot to mention room size, not that big, right now the living room is about 13 x 13 lol just wondering if that matters. also, getting a little help in the finance depo so those 500's are looking mighty tempting now lol :D
-
I have a fairly small living room too, not much bigger than yours although the exact room dimensions escape me right now. I have Monitor 70's (very similar to the TSi 500's both in performance and size) and they work very well. If you want them already, I would suggest you get them, or else you will always wonder what if, lol.

returned the cs10 today and ordered the cs20 from newegg! now what next...hmm...oh yeah, tsi500's here i come! :D
-
got my cs20 today from newegg! sounds great! :D

I knew you would like it, that CS20 is a much better center than the CS10 and is much more future proof if you do decide to get the 500's. I have a pair of the TSi 500's and love em, very easy on the eyes too. As for what next, what are you using for a sub, surrounds?

yeah those 500's are as good as mine lol
no sub right now, i'm looking at a few tho, looking at the energy esw-8 and esw-v8. i'm actually bidding on a def tech prosub 60 on ebay right now lol. seems like a decent sub with good reviews. also, just a question, should i have my center set to small and towers to large to cover bass or set all to large since no sub? -
right now i just have the 300's and the cs20
-
are all subs 4 ohms. it seems that every sub i consider says its 4 ohms or is that only true when connecting speakers directly to the sub with no avr?
-
thanks for clearing that little bit up for me lol thats what i thought but just wanted to confirm it
thanks much!
