New to forum and some surround suggestions
Well this is my first post as a new member and glad to be here.
Just recently purchased a CS10 and a pair of tsi100's.Couldn't be any happier. Now while browsing the forum getting some ideas for some surround speakers, this is what i have so far.
The tsi100's are wall mounted,CS10 above the TV.Our living room is approx 13X15 with no back wall, well there is a small wall behind the left side which about two feet then its all open, its all the kitchen.
Just looking for a 5.1 setup,I don't think i have the room for a 7.1 setup or if the extra 2 are a waste.
Now i was on Polk direct looking at some fxiA4's for my surrounds or maybe replacing the fronts with some tsi200's and throwing the 100's in the rear side instead.
I hope my post made some sense and feel free to make some suggestions.I will try to get some pics of the room from the side and back.
Thanks
BTW.I chose for bookshelf's instead of floor standing due to our 10month old baby who i don't want her to start poking at the speakers whens shes already at that age and using it as an anchor to start pulling herself up.

Thanks for the welcome.
Was thinking of more options. If i do decide to get the tsi200's for front and throw the 100's for my surrounds, will my CS10 still be good enough or maybe jump to a CS20?

This would be a good option, the 100's will make great surrounds and the 200's will make for some pretty good fronts as well. The CS10, IMHO, should be just fine up front with the 200's, and the CS20 wouldn't be "needed" unless you were to step up to the floorstanders in the TSi line. Having said that, you have already upgraded once, and it won't be long until you want to upgrade those if you stick around here, lol. You could try the 200's with the 10 and see how it does, and re evaluate from there. As for going to 7.1, room size is going to be the biggest factor here, because a well setup 5.1 will outperform a cramped up 7.1 anyday. 13x15 room, you should be just fine with 5.1, IMHO. Good luck and welcome to Club Polk.

Thanks Jeff, narrowed down my options to 5.1 instead of 7.1.Just one more question about the surrounds.
My first post i was asking about the fxiA4's.Are these more suitable for a higher end system or matched more for the rti series?
Correct me if i am wrong, does the dipole disperse sound differently than a standard speaker? Also givin my 13x15 room size, are they the worth it or will the 100's be just as good if i place them properly in my room.

Only your ears can tell you if its worth it or not. ?I have Fx500i's in my system, Would it have been my first choice.....probably not, but for $55 like new fx's I wasnt going to pass it up. I have mine set to dipole and enjoy them very much. Keep in mind, matching the surrounds isnt AS important as the rest of your gear. DavidPolk Audio Surround Bar 360

Anthony welcome.
The FXiA4's would work for you just fine. They are matched for the RTI series however you could use them with the TSI's and I wouldn't see a problem with doing so. The dipole/bi pole to me tend to sound less localized when playing a movie or a game. I found that it helps spread the sound out in my room for my surrounds rather then being more focused ( I tried some towers for sides and was just hard to place in my room). I think with your room size they would work just fine.
Most important though is letting your ears see if they like them or not. At first I didn't really know if I would like them but after I tried them out I really did enjoy the sound. -

LOL..I am in Northern California.I haven't used the fly rod in a few yrs. With the little one here at home, who knows when can i get out and flyfish..lol
cstmar1,
So even with no back wall in my living room like i mentioned earlier, will the dipole sound differently as if i did have a wall in back?
When i get home later,i will upload a few pictures of room.Living Room Monitor 60's*CS2*FXi A6's*VSX 21txh*BD-P1590

Sorry forgot about that part. I personally have never used the FXI's against an open area. I would be lead to beleive that doing so would change their sound as they are more ment to "bounce" the sound off the walls and use them in their design. If they are not then it may sound different as you would not have the point for the wave to bounce off from. I maybe wrong, but would think it would change. -
Ok,i have a few pictures of the open back of the living room.Like i said previously, would the fxiA4's still benifit with out a back wall because the way they work.

The 1st image you can see where the kitchen begins where the cabinets are shown, and the other image you can see where it starts behind the couch.By looking at the walls,do you think the fxi's would be somewhat difficult as for placement wise because of the two windows and would not want them placed high,or will that gap between the last window and where that small wall starts be good.
As for the other side, would the entrance way be an obstruction? So now i hoped i explained well enough and with providing a few pictures. Now its just a waiting game of going with the fxiA4's or tsi 100's

+1 to all of the above.
Also, as others have said...the FXiA4's wouldn't be timbre matched to the rest of your speakers, but I'm sure they'd be close enough to still sound good. Timbre matching the surrounds to the fronts isn't as important as having a timbre matched front soundstage.
That being said...I'd go for the 200's to put up front, and move the 100's to the back.
Just my $.02

I am using the vsx-1019ah-k to power everything.I am leaning towards the 200's now for fronts and the 100's in rear.
As for the sub i might be going for the PSW110 or anything from the PSW line.Any good suggestions for a sub?Don't want to break the bankLiving Room Monitor 60's*CS2*FXi A6's*VSX 21txh*BD-P1590

Sounds like the best option for you , IMHO. As for a sub I would look into the PSW505, it is on sale at Newegg for $229.99 w/ free shipping. Promo code EMCYPYX59. It may be a bit much for what you are running now, but you can always turn it down for now and you will be a little more "future proof" as far as subs go if you do end up getting larger Fronts later. The PSW110 is a good option as well, but for about $30 more you can get a much better sub. I'm sure you will get more suggestions, this is just my $.02.

welcome to some of the best fun for your ears!
Whatever you decide you'll get the most out of MATCHED left center, & right speakers.
I see a mention of future-proofing your Sub choice. I posted similar queston comparing PSWs vs DSWs. the DSWs were the hands-down choice.
Polk Direct has a couple up for auction now.
