Hey, I've been reading about the products from www.sounddeadenershowdown.com on all the audio forums for a while and I was intrigued by his theory on how to sound deaden correctly. Well I decided to order and I have to say this stuff is awesome. It's easy to apply and works great. I did my doors for now and I only ordered 12 of his CLD tiles and a 15' roll of his butyl rubber rope. He has closed cell foam for sale but I just bought sleeping bag foam sheets I found on ebay and used them as a top layer for a sound barrier. Resonance and road noise is greatly improved. The music is definitely louder and clearer. If anyone is thinking about sound deadening their vehicle. I strongly recommend these products. Here's some pics of the products and the install.

Yeah, I used 4 tiles on the outer door skins. Then cut up 2 more tiles to do the whole inner door skin. The butyl rope was wedged in between the outer door skin and the crash bar attached to it. It really makes the outer door rigid as hell. With the rope and the tiles there is a 100% improvement when you tap the door from the outside. It sounds totally inert now where it sounded like a tin can before. I also used some rope as a nice thick gasket for my speaker adapters so the speakers are decoupled from the door even more, therefore cutting the resonance down even more.

And as far as the foam I just took it and set it into the inside of the door panel, then cut out the holes for the clips and door handle wires and trimmed it to fit inside the panel itself. Then I just put on the door panel like normal and I just had to push a little harder so now the door panel is fully wedged and the foam fills in any gaps and prohibits any rattling of any parts and also cuts down on unwanted resonance. I didn't take any pics of this but I hope I explained it right. When you tap the door panel it now sounds as dead and inert as the outer door skin. I can't wait to do my back wall with this stuff.

Man I need to try these if I buy a new car. I slapped 4 layers of Dynamat on the doors of my Accord. This would be much easier. ;)

yeah, the 25% coverage theory definitely works. You spend less and get the same results it seems. It's clearly a no-brainer.

I dont know dude. It took me a loooong time to chase away all the rattles in mine. But that has more to do with the trim panel than the actual door panel.

I've deadened all 4 of my doors, the floor, and the trunk. It made for very noticeable improvements! I highly recommend it if you have nice audio gear in your car.

I'm not sure how to gauge the difference because I've never been in a fully wrapped car. But it seemed like night and day just with my doors. We'll see how good it is when I do my floor and back wall cause I can't stop now. I gotta do the whole truck! My wife's gonna kill me. Luckily I only have a single cab truck so there's not much to deaden compared to a sedan or bigger truck. I'll keep you guys posted on the results.

by the way, Second Skin Audio sells pretty much the same stuff but they call them SPL tiles. I'm not sure who was first to make these but Second Skin markets them as an addition to their regular damplifier mat for trouble spots. They're about the same price and I'm sure they are just as effective.

Nothing compares to a fully dead car. When you can fully isolate the music from the interior of the car, it makes a HUGE difference. To be able to listen to the music without any resonance in the car is the goal.

Mac, would'nt you lose a lot of the 'impact' from the mids by not sealing the doors? Plus, it would add to the vibrations on the plastic door panel.

Just this weekend i spend both days in my car deadening the **** out of it.
I do know i probably covered more then needed (2 layers, some spots have 3 layers) but i got a LOOOOT of deadening material to do it for the price of pretty much free (well, compared to what i WOULD pay if it wans't for the deal)

so far here's what i'm starting off with:
    RAAMAT:
BXT - 62.5 sg ft. (silver color) It's a "floor only" material. Per Raamat there's a chance it will fall off at high temperatures if installed in vertical position but works the way it should when installed on the floor or any horizontal surface.
    Ensolite - 4 yards (36 sg ft)

    SECOND SKIN:
Damplifier Pro "Hybrid" - 40sg ft (black color)
Luxury Liner Pro - 36 sg ft

so i got a mix of deadener, closed cell foam and mass loader. So far deadening is the only thing applied.

Here's a few before and after pics:

    DSCF8305.jpg
    DSCF3665.jpg

    DSCF8307.jpg
    DSCF3667.jpg

Also did rear deck and under rear seats. Trunk lid, all 4 doors, floor and possibly roof is next....
Trunk is literally DEAD now. no rattles, shakes, noises.... none, nada, zip..... just gatta lay some Luxury Liner Pro on top of it all to get rid of road/tire noise.
