Adcom GCA 510 high gain passive line stage integrated amplifier.
This is rare Adcom piece sold primarily in the UK and Canada to compete with integrated amplifiers of the day. It was only marketed for about a year or so. Its essentially the SLC505 passive preamp mated to the GFA 535 amp section. There is no pre-amp stage; its a high gain amplifier section mated to a passive line controller.
50wpc @ 8 ohms and 75wpc @ 4 ohms
Volume, bal, source and source record are the only controls.
Heres what the Adcom manual says:
The GCA-510 is an innovative example of the minimalist school of circuit design. Although it offers the convenience of an integrated amplifier, its actually a very high gain power amp preceded by a passive level controller. There is no separate preamplifier stage. The complementary output stage features discrete high power devices operated in a high bias class AB mode. This design employs no current limiting; the amplifier is capable of driving low impedance loads and is also virtually impervious to speaker/cable reactance. Precise speaker control is further assured by the intentional elimination of output coils to provide a constant high damping factor over the entire audio range.

Since purchasing a couple different tube amps for my office rig this hasnt been in use for over a year. Its time to move it along to someone who can use it. It ran both my LSi9s and SDAs for awhile and sounded damn good doing it. It runs on the warm side because of the high gain design since the pre-amp stage is passive. Its dead, and I mean dead quiet.
You can tell by the photos its typically Adcom overbuilt with a Toroidal transformer and (4) transistors per channel, short signal paths, ~ 14,000uF per channel filter capacitance. I was going to keep it in my audio closet, but if someone can use it, Ill part with it. Its a nice sounding robust unit and my price is pretty firm as I know what these typically fetch when they do come up FS. I have no problem hanging on to it if it doesnt sell. I feel my price is fair.
Condition is a solid 7/10. There are a couple superficial scratches which look worse in the photo than in real life. Most noticeable is the smaller scratch on the lower left top.
$175 plus actual shipping & insurance. Will be packed to withstand a nuclear blast. Paypal, MO or personal check if I know you. Post interest here and shoot me a PM, dibs are OK, but be specific about your intent to purchase.
Thanks for looking

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. **bump**
Talk to me, I'm not unwilling to make a reasonable deal. This will be going over to Audiogon by the end of the week.
Lots of views, not a peep.

I've heard this and it's an excellent sounding unit. I know he's been struggling with selling this. His loss is your gain. Somebody needs to jump on this.
