That may be a sign that you need a higher quality/higher wattage amp. Tweeters can be blown fairly easily if you're listening at real high volumes with a lower powered amp.

Forgot to mention...
What gear are you using with them? I've never really heard of too many problems with Polk tweeters blowing.
What Polk's are you using? You also may want to check the polyswitches(or fuses depending on model) in the XO's. The polyswitches are a tweeter protection circuit, so if it's overdriven, the poly's will trip and temporarily break the high frequency circuit, instead of blowing the tweeter.
Vintage Polk's used either fuses(in the earlier Monitor series), or polyswitches(in the later Monitor series, and all of the SDA's. The fuses will be mounted on the terminal cup, right above the binding posts. If you don't see any there, then it means you've got the polyswitches. Both the fuses and polyswitches will wear out over time, after being tripped multiple times. They're something that need to be replaced occasionally. I'm not sure if they still do, but I believe Polk used to provide them to people free of charge, or for just the cost of shipping...I forget exactly what the deal was.
Hope that helps.:)The nirvana inducer-

thanks curt. i believe the polys have been removed. i think ill try different resistors and see if that keeps them between the ditches. i went through dixon yesterday and if i thought i was going to take the 94 home i would have brought your tapes.
