I hooked up a system w/TT and when I turn the volume up ( not loud either) the woofers start vibrating almost out of control. Only when playing a record.

Anything I can do about it?

You need a rumble filter. It's scary how fast the drivers get going. Also isolation sikes can help. Leave the cover open when playing.
    Good luck.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

    -Better isolation on your TT
-Get a phono pre with a subsonic filter.

    Or,

-Ditch those speakers and get some planars :)

Seems like rumble...your cartridge may be picking up sounds other than what's on the record. What is the turntable sitting on? Try moving it somewhere else and see if things improve. If so, you're on the right track.

    Thanks Joe,
I have the TT in a custom upright cabinet but underneath is hollow right now. I built the bottom to house two levels of albums and it's 17 1/4" wide. I moved the cabinet(it's on wheels) around and it improved a little out in the room compared to in the .....corner.:(.

Maybe putting the 150 albums back in will solidify the cabinet and keep the shelf that the TT is sitting on from resonating.;)

I also tried with the lid up and down and with the lid up, it helped a little too.

Definitely rumble. Try these Isol-Pads from Quest for Sound. Tell the owner Steven Monte, you know me and are a member of this forum and he'll give you a great discount. I use them under all my components and turntable but with the turntable I am using them in conjuction with Black Diamond Racing Cones Mk IV.

    http://www.questforsound.com/accessories/acc_sqIsolPads.htm

Pay no attention to the $50 price tag. They really work.

Here's the a google result on Black Diamond Racing, read away!

I'll PM you my name if you decide to call Stephen Monte.
