With Hollywood remaking everything, what would you like to see remade? Can be TV or movie.

I'd like to see a reboot of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles starting with Interview with the Vampire. Cruise/Pitt was a bad combo although Antonio Banderas was awesome as Armand. I heard The Queen of the Damned wasn't very good but I didn't see it.

I'd also like to see a redo of Star Wars 1, 2, and 3 but don't touch 4, 5, and 6.

There was a TV movie in the early 80's by the name of "Goliath Awaits" about a cruise ship that sunk in WWII, but stayed intact and everyone survived to live on the ship for 40 years and create their own community, technology, etc. I thought it was a great concept, but poorly executed. I'd like to see that remade.

They just remade "Jason and the Argonauts" and I love the original so I hope they did it well. It looks pretty good from the previews.

Then there are the Sinbad movies that I liked also. Those could be updated maybe.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Any one of Michael Crichton's books that were made into movies....They mostly sucked big time. Congo, Sphere, Eaters of the Dead (13th Warrior), Timeline, The Terminal Man, all need to be remade into a GOOD movie...not great...just good. Jurassic Park and The Andromeda Strain are the only two I actually consider good. Rising Sun, The Great Train Robbery and Disclosure were passable at best...but not terrible like the others I mentioned.

Yes the book was good and I would have like to see them with the drop capsules instead of the pods as well. BUT...this is one of those bad campy movies that was so bad it is truly a cult classic. I love it...just the way it is. You have Doogie Howser running around in a SS uniform and Denise Richards just being hot. And most of all...I cannot imagine a remake that doesn't have Dina Meyer naked in the shower.

"THEM"! 1954, James Whitmore, James Arness, Edmund Gwenn, Joan Weldon. A real classic coming out of the 1950's Sci-fi, UFO, hysteria flick's. The common household ant mutated to elephant-like size, via radiation from the testing of the first Atomic bomb blast in New Mexico. One of my favorite movies. Would love to see a 21st century, special effects laden version.

I love that one as well...but I keep thinking of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Rollerball" and cringe.

Maybe it could be pulled off..."War of the Worlds" and "Planet of the Apes" were decent (not as good as the original...but not terrible)...

But it would be very easy to screw it up.

Oh yeah, and Mark Harmon can still play the lead role.

What about a remake of Steve McQueen's "Bullitt"?

A classic but not widely known or seen film...Sean was pretty good in the first one!

Jason and the Argonauts...and Sinbad also good....there have been some made for TV remakes...but nothing like the old Epic formats.....

I'd like to see a remake of THX-1138....perhaps Lucas's best film ever....I think he went down hill after that! 1st 3 Star Wars were OK for what they were but didn't have the drama and depth or artistry, of the student film.

An absolute 'classic'....I wouldn't touch that. Just like I would not have touched The Day the Earth Stood Still...the remake with Keanu just does NOT hold a candle to the original B & W....and at least Michael Rennie could 'act'!

Dune. What a god-awful travesty of one of the epics of Sci-Fi. And they tried to polish that up and failed. *

Also, Stephen King's Hearts in Atlantis was a disaster movie version of a very fine story.

Movies that were made well, leave well enough alone.

    * I see there was also a TV series made of it, so, never having seen that.....

Sphere is always part of the conversation when I'm asked about my opinion of "worst movies of all time". It was an abomination IMO. Congo is not far behind. Timeline and 13th Warrior were ok at best...but could have been SO MUCH BETTER. Eaters of the Dead is my favorite Crichton novel so 13th Warrior is especially dissappointing to me. I give Terminal Man a break because it was made at a time when there were very few really good sci-fi themed movies made.

I enjoyed all of Crichton's books. While not his best IMO, Congo was an entertaining read. Like all his books, he threw in a good amount of technical info that made it semi-believable. If you have read and enjoyed any of his other novels, I think you would like Congo.

I'd pay to see a remake of "2001 A Space Odyssey." Don't get me wrong. Kubrick's movie has stood the test of time, which is difficult for sci fi movies. Since technology has moved on over the 40+ years of its making, it still looks fairly current in the details.

My beef with Kubrick's interpretation of Clark's book is that he did took too much liberty with what happened to the character Bowman once Bowman entered into the monolith. What happened in the book while traveling through the "warp" (for lack of a better definition) is quite different during that journey. The same for the very end of the book.

That may be due to the lack of special effects technology during that day. Still the movie is a classic. It is just hard for individuals to understand what what was actually going on in the book during the last part of the original movie.

I saw it back in my teens years and the LSD I took made the movie make all the sense in the world!:D
