Peerless Woofer Question

I have an identification problem.
I have a RH Labs SPX-2 Subwoofer that I have been looking for information on for quite sometime, having no luck, today I tore into it and found much information (that I'm sure makes sense to someone) most of which was on a Peerless 12" Woofer. The following information is on the decal.
Peerless
Type: KA120
IMP: 8Ω
No. SR#1568-1
Date: 3-21-80
Is there somewhere I can find information on old Peerless speakers? Or can someone identify what might be gleaned from any of the numbers? Other than a 12" woofer, 8Ω and the date (which actually fits the dates of manufacture of this subwoofer) I was hoping someone might know something.
Also was wondering if anyone here could help with a few wiring questions if I posted pictures of the inside. This is not a powered subwoofer.

I have a question about the wires that are wrapped around the wires going to the speaker itself. They appear to just end... I am by no means an expert but it just doesn't seem right?
Also, again I'm no expert, but it appears to me that the crossover adjustment would only work when hooked up to the upper (amp left and right in) connections and not the wires below the low frequency crossover switch as shown in the picture below: Any help would be appreciated..
I can't figure out how to edit my first post so unfortunately this was the only way I could get it to work...My Everyday Home Audio Equipment.

LOL. This thing works but I'd like to know what it can handle safely. And if it is truly wired correctly.
That monster you have has crossed my mind quite often in the past few days!My Everyday Home Audio Equipment.
