    The first colorcast of a sport event, a boxing match from Madison Square Garden, was presented by NBC. (Maybe the first by NBC, but not the first color sports, as baseball and football were colorcast by the CBS system).

    USA was celebrating for getting John Glenn into a single orbit around earth;

    Communism showed it inherent weakness when a wall was built in Berlin to prevent more people from escaping the GDR;

    Folk were reflecting upon the 20th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

    I forgot to put into my input. While the head nurse was holding me, she reflected on Pearl Harbor and dropped me ... so says Mom. Mom was too busy crying to hold me. :D
