Enough already. Thanks to all of you for your feedback and ideas. There have been some very good and thoughtful comments. Patrick and I are sorting through them now. Well be reviewing them tomorrow internally and with our moderators.
We will do our best to make changes that are simpatico and address some of the trouble spots like the for sale area.
Your advice on adding moderators is interesting and we are considering it.
There is something I want to say about moderators and ours in particular. Mark and Russ kindly volunteered to moderate several years ago when it was clear that neither Justin, Paul, Micah nor I could provide that necessary service. They have done it without compensation. At the time, I told them that I didnt want moderating to interfere with their participation as a member but they should just help out when things got out of hand. Because for the last year Russ has spent more time representing Polk in bulletin boards other than our Forum, policing the Forum has largely fallen on Mark with Patrick pitching as he could. That has made Mark the only cop in town. And nobody likes a cop until he needs him.
Last weekend Joe and Mark had an altercation. Joe was not innocent. And Mark, as he admitted, overreacted in the heat of the moment. So now everyones sorry. Stuff happens. Be grown up and let it go.
Its time to stop beating up on Mark. Most of you have no idea how much time he puts into this Forum. Aside from the time posting and moderating, he handles all the prototypes and products floating around. He does his best to get the feedback and reviews as promised. He arranges the shipping and hassles deadbeats that dont pass them on when theyre supposed to. He gets Hedy to send new packing because the old packaging is shot. Marks always asking Shelia and me if we have any gear, shirts and giveaway for karmas and drawings. Hes constantly reminding me that you guys want to and deserve to be among the first to hear any news. The list goes on. Instead of beating him up, you should be thanking him.
In fact, that goes for the other old timers. They built this house. Sometimes they get overprotective but it can be forgiven. Its my job to remind them that this is an open tent and all are welcome. For the most part, they are at the front of the welcome line. I was especially saddened to see the last half of my post turn into a rant about Mark and the old timers. Its not fair. They paid their dues and most deserve your respect.
Stay tuned. In the meantime, be good to each other. Be tolerant of each other. If you could do that I wouldnt be bothering with new rules.

Thanks for the kind words for Mark and Russ. I know they've done A LOT behind the scenes that they never get credit for nor have they asked for any. I for one appreciate their efforts.

Thanks Al. I know that Mark and Russ do alot for the forum and I have no issues with either of them I think they are both good people. Now lets listen to some tunes.

Thanks Al for the followup.
Just for the record, I made my amends, admitted my fault and have moved on. I just hope everyone else does too.
Just a follow up, I think that being a mod is a thankless and tough job. It is especially difficult to stay objective with the amount of active members and the umpteen thousand threads to juggle. That being said, kudos to Mark, Russ and Patrick. Anyone who hasn't seen Mark's efforts in every category as well as his generosity is down right blind! -

Sir,
I have not met you, but to see the change of tone on this board after your warning is very refreshing. Thank you for stepping in and, hopefully, implementing some changes discussed amongst ourselves will prevent you from having to step in on Polk's wonderful message board in the future ... other than meeting you in person during a Polk product demo!

I just wish that Mark would put on a pair of pants once in awhile.. or at least get some sun..
I would settle for him just wearing some underpants...:p
I appreciate the update as well and am thankful that it appears there is hope for the future of CP. Thanks for all the work being done to make this a better place.

Thanks for keeping us informed. I have always tried to respect everyone here. And have always praised the wonderful help from everyone, especially the "old-timers". Again, thanks to all of you for building such a wonderful place to learn and hang out.
Adding more mods is a good thing. Just remember that mods are people too who will at times have bad days. I would think that you may want 5-10 mods in order to share the responsibility. And hey, why not give them a yearly token gesture, like a credit on Polk's Ebay store or something?
And seriously man, really think about the blink tag for the forum rules link :P -
Thanks for the kind words Al and folks. I've decided not to publically participate for the most part from now on but simply handle the Polk demo program, various other company things and moderate from the side. I will be watching, reading and acting when appropriate but not answering threads or mingling unless neccesary.
There many active members here with enough knowledge to handle things now and certainly enough personality to go around. I believe Russman will be the more active moderator here again and he's been sorely missed by me personally. If the rumor is correct, we'll have a tremendously well respected, retired, Polk employee coming back to balance out the room. Between the two of them, they're the only real Polk Guru's I'm aware of here. They can handle old and new product line questions, if not anything that could possibly be asked.
Please don't send me PM's or emails unless its business related, you need assistance or to report a problem that has been missed. Thanks. -Mark
