Does anyone have one I could use? Apparently the guy I bought this from lied about upgrading the firmware. Right now they are on version 1.38 and mine still has 1.12 so yeah its old. This is for a pioneer BDP-05FD or the BDP-51FD.
For some unknown reason I can not get this thing to burn to a disc on my computer. First the Iphone, now it won't burn, and blahhhh.

SO if anyone would have a disc with the firmware on it, I will pay the shipping for you to send it to me, seeing my computer will NOT let me do this for some unknown reason.

I did call them and they told me they would not send it to me and I would have to either do it myself off the website or find a disk. That is what I was told.

When I got my Pio blu ray player they added a thumb drive in the box. Maybe try to download it to one and put it in the USB port. See if that helps.

Does that Pioneer player have a USB port? I don't remember....I bought one, then I left for China, so I never set it up. I too was able to download and burn the version 1.38 firmware upgrade onto a CD from their site...no problem.

Now the problem I did have was downloading the firmware upgrade for my Toshiba HD-DVD....no dice on that one!

well I've now tried it a few different ways and no luck.
I burned it on my computer as the ISO file and no luck. Tried my Gf's no luck. Tried different ways to extract the file no luck.

I tried to copy it over to the USB thingy and no luck with the player, it just sat there. Every time I do the disc it tells me it can't read it, or just says data disc and won't download.

I am starting to wonder if its possibly due to how old the firmware thats on it. its a 1.12 which is like when the player first came out, and I'm trying to do the .38 and didn't know if that would cause problems.

I'll try and see if I can get the disc online. Normally I call. which I'm doing now (again) and I've been on hold for like 10 mins. blah took me long enough the first time to get through, guess we'll see if I get a different answer!

cstar, pm me your address and I will mail you the disk. Think of it as you won my pioneer firmware update karma - congratulations. If you can get it burned before you get the disk - fine. If not, then you will have it in a few days.

My gf's computer has win 7 and it still wasn't working when I burned it from there. I did try the software I had to do the image burn but I'll have to go back and try it with the stuff you recommend to see if I get any better results.

That's the only negative I can think about the pioneer bdp's. Love my PS3, easy wireless downloads.

well after being on hold for 20 mins and then again for 20 I will be getting a disc from them. Just may take forever but I will be getting the disc. Thanks for the help and in the meantime I'm still going to try and see if I can get one to burn on my system.
    Thank you!
