I agree. I love their movies. Millers Crossing was excellent. My favorite is Fargo.

Miller's Crossing is a great movie. Grim and funny at the same time. It even has a language of it's own with terms like as "Dangle" and "Twist".

And always remember to "Put one in the brain".....YIKES!!!!

Another hidden gem is Blood Simple, I think it was the Coen brother's first movie. A paranoid masterpiece. You as the viewer are the only one who knows the big picture of what is going on. You watch the characters misjudge and do the wrong things and you are helpless to stop them.

A theater in Louisville makes it a point to show Blood Simple at least once a year. And I always try to catch it. Awesome flick.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I thought Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers, & Oh Brother Where Art Thou? were a FREAKIN' SCREAM!

Yeah, they made me want to scream "WHY DID YOU MAKE THESE AWFUL MOVIES?!!" I love most Coen Brothers' movies but those two are abysmal.

I have a question about O Brother, I love the movie. my son loves the movie, my wife can't stand it.

At a recent dinner club we started talking about that movie, all six guys love it, but all of their wives or girlfriends can' stand it. Whats the deal?

BTW, whenever my son wakes me up from a nap, or vice versa, the one who was sleeping says "MUH HAIR!".

Coen are my all time favorites as well. I liked Raising Arizona too, and of course the all time best Big Lebowski. I finally saw Burn After Reading which was hilarious. Watching Clooney carry around that sex pillow left me on the floor. I bought A Serious Man on BD but haven't watched it yet.

I thought Burn After Reading was great! It was out there, but made me crack up! Clooney was on his game in that movie :D

if anybody has seen a serious man give us a little review. how about barton fink. i couldnt get into ladykillers, maybe because i was recoverinf from severing 2 fingers and part of my thumb on a table saw, the stumpy jokes after the guy blew his off just didnt sit well. also over the top use of mf this and mf that was too much, all in all not their best. intolerable cruelty has been called their most underrated comedy. i might have to check it out. also the man that was not there well worth watching. if anyone knows what they may be up to next, share please.

    Yes NCFOM is great.

The hitman is calm, intelligent, relentless, evil, and absolutely cold blooded. He has his own sense of honor and logic. He scares the crap out of me. More than the typical Hollywood over-the-top type psychos. His delight in killing is subtle. He toys with people and language, before he kills (or doesn't kill) them, like in the filling station scene with the elderly man. Holleeesh_____t!

Lot's of great Coen brothers quotes too like:

"These two here look like Management types"
    and

"Here's a couple of ripe petunias"

I'd say the majority of people who would be mad at the ending of a Serious Man wouldn't make it as far as the ending anyway.
