Greetings all

I have a very small HT set up in a bedroom with old Polk R10's and a CS1 Center hooked to a yamaha rx-v659. I dont have surrounds yet but i am wondering if the fronts should be upgraded. I am thinking of getting the TSi200's as the monitor series seems to have been phased out. Would this be a good upgrade? Is the TSi series supposed to be matched to the new center speakers? Will it make much of a difference? Thanks.

While I agree with Sal, that you may have some issues timbre matching your CS1 with the TSi series, you may be better off getting some Monitor 50's, 60's or 70's. They can still be found on various websites, like Newegg and can be had for cheap. Only problem is you may have to upgrade your center as well if you step up to the Monitors, esp. with the 60's and 70's. For the prices they can be had for, the Monitor's are hard to beat.

My thoughts exactly, you could even use your R10's for surround duty until the upgrade bug bites again. Welcome to CP.

Good call on the R10s Knucklehead!

The Tsi series is a really nice bookshelf. I've only heard the TSI-100 (and I own some TSI-300s) which pretty much stole the show at the big box stores...trounce their competition. You'll like the 200s even more....they're a wonderful choice for a HT bedroom system as pointed out above!

Thank you all for the replies. I think i'm going to try out the TSi200's just to see how they'll sound. If i did upgrade the fronts to monitors what center should i be looking at? I really like the CS1 and hate to give it up. Would the monitor 40's be okay? It looks like they're pretty well matched looks wise, like they're meant to compliment one another.

Thanks for the help and welcomes

Depending on what you choose to run up front, you could use the CS1 you have now. If you choose the Monitor 60's or 70's, IMHO the CS2 would be the ideal choice as it will do a better job of "keeping up" with the bigger floorstanders. If you use the Monitor 40's or 50's, the CS1 will be just fine. I usually recommend the biggest, baddest center you can afford/fit in the space allowed and it prevents you from having to upgrade it if the upgrade bug bites you again, lol. The CS2 is an ideal choice for any of the Monitor's, but if you wanted to run it up front with the smaller Monitors, you could.

Jeff is right the CS1 with the Monitor 40s is fine....and the CS10 with the TSI-200s is good as well. If I were you I spend the bit extra and go with the TSI line for bookshelves--they are a bit better than their sister monitor bookshelves...and the WAFACTOR is 'phenomenal'...they're preeettty!

Well this is for a pretty small bedroom. Not sure of the measurements off hand but i think towers would be a bit much. As far as the center goes, i have it on the second shelf of my tv stand directly under the tv. The CS1 was hard to squeeze in there as it is so thats another reason i'd like to keep the cs1. I really do like the monitor 40's and at $150 at newegg the price is right. But like others have said, the upgrade bug might bite again and i'll be looking at TSi's. Hmmm tough choice. Thanks all.
