Remote control for hidden components

I have my stuff set up in a corner cabinet and I am also at the point where I feel audio components should be heard and not seen.

So, I don't want to have to open the bottom doors of the cabinet where my Yamaha Rxv1200 is housed.

Does anyone make a relay device that would allow me to have a receiver for my Yamaha remote in the upper part of the cabinet (where the monitor is housed) that would then relay my remote's commands to the hidden receiver?

Someone must make something like this because my Samsung satellite receiver came with a little cable that has a transmitter on the end of a cabled plug. You attach the transmitter over the "eye" on your VCR and plug the cable into the Samsung and the Samsung remote operates your hidden VCR.

TIA.

I had posted this request to several other groups and got THE answer.

I had looked at the Recoton/Radio Shack thing but the second unit still requires line of site to your equipment. Some of us have our equipment completely out of view and in tight spaces.

There are two manufactures of IR repeater systems where an emitter is taped over the eye of your equipment's IR sensor; Xantech and Channel Plus. Xantech puts together a kit that includes four emitters (for you equipment) for about $100.

    Here is the link http://www.xantech.com/products/p_folder/p_291kit.htm

This is just what I need so that I can operate my system while keeping the cabinet doors closed.

The RS extender will work without direct line of sight. I put the RS pyramid on top of my reciever and it bounces the signal off the closed door to the front of the reciever. It may take some experimenting with the position but the single RS extenter currently controlls all 6 components in a small closet 30 feet from the listening room. Cheap solution to your problem.

    dsc,

I've used a xantech hard-wire, IR repeater for over a decade as my equipment is in a separate room next to my listening area. They make a very simple and reliable unit, and it's easy to add on added flashers - just splice them in parallel with each other.

    Very good choice IMO...
