Considering SRT sub amp replacement

I have one bad amp in my SRT subs, and it doesn`t look good for getting a new replacement.

I am considering running a pair of Adcom 555`s bridged, one to each side. Or running a single Adcom 5802.

Ideas or suggestions please.
HT: SRT's.....Pioneer SC95, Oppo 105D; ps4; Mitsubishi 1080p 82" DLP; DirecTV

2 ch: SRS 1.2tl's.....Odyssey Stratos monos, Dynaco PAS pre w/Mods, Arcam DV-135, Music Hall MMF 5, AQ wires

Bedroom: SRS 3.1tl's, RTA 8T (phantom center), Pioneer sc-lx701, Mitsubishi 1080p 82" DLP, DirecTV, ps3

Car: SR 6500's.....Planet Audio HVT752 tube hybrid amps (2), Alpine dvd-a double din HU, two 12" Kicker's

    Have you contacted the Polk Service Center to see if they can repair the amp? They've repaired a RT3000 plate amp for me in the past and it was very reasonable. It may cost you a bit to ship the amp to them.

    polkie4life, a member on this forum has successfully replaced the plate amps on his SRT's with external amplification and seems very pleased with what he hears. Either of the amps you mention would probably be a big step up from the internal plate amps.

    Polk CS looked at it and said they couldn`t repair it. They offered to sell me a new replacement but it was the week after Christmas and I was tapped out. I have called four times over the last two weeks and can`t get anywhere with them now that I am ready to buy. I can only assume it has been sold.

    I had a local repair shop narrow it down to the input board, but it is covered in epoxy and he cant get into it.

    So I may have an SRT plate amp for sale soon.
