guys, in no way am i an experienced film or ht experience reveiwer, but i just wanted to share with you a couple of werner herzog, films i recentlly discovered. one is fitzcarraldo with the madman klaus kinski, father of famously former smokin hot nastassia kinski. its based on a true story and made in the style movies used to be made. real images on screen, no cg,trying to convey people who have lived daring tenacious lives, attempted to, yes, make money but realize lifes also about the effort and aspirations. their is a documentary about the making of the film called burden of dreams, tha is very interesting. the other is rescue dawn, another herzog movie with christian bale. its the true story of a german immigrant who experienced wwii as a child, saw the fighter planes and knew he was going to be a pilot, moved to america, fought and struggled to become a navy flier, was shot down 2 hours into his first missin over laos, was taken prisoner, never signed the phony confessions from the captors because he couldnt bear to say anything against his new homeland that had given so much opportunity and freedom. there is also a documetary, called little dieter has to fly, about
dieter dingler, the subject of the movie and his incredible struggles as a kid in germany after wwII and after coming to america to EARN his dream, and his incredible optimism and love of life. no fancy cg in either movie, no space aliens, no psycho spree killers or glorifying the depraved entitled mindset that is becoming so commonplace. just valiant directorial ability and visin , great acting and stunning visuals of actual efforts. in fitzcarraldo, the 40 ton ship is actually pulled over that mountain just as you see, it is also sent downstream with kinski and others on board into the rapids, what you see is real. when was the last time you saw a movie like that. sorry i was long winded and not terribly gifted in funny or concise paragraphs. but dont hold it against the movies. go to netflix and check them out.
