Question about my HT
Im thinking about buying an amp just for my rears, so I can push the fronts more. Would my Front stage improve dramatically from this??
Thanks,
Thanks,

I have to say this is a guess, but I would say that it would improve, but probably not enough to really hear it. I would go the other way and get a good 2 ch amp for the fronts, and let the 5 ch handle the rest. See what others have to say though as I said I'm just guessing.

Depends what amp you're looking at for the rears... if you want to go cheaper, maybe a UPA-2 if you want to stay Emo, then yeah, put the UPA-2 in the back.
If you want to stay with the XPAs, then get an XPA-2 and use that for your mains.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Wait.... you've got a 5.1 setup? If you do, then i wouldn't bother changing anything on the amplification stage. IF you do wish to change just because, then i would suggest an XPA-2 for the fronts, and use the XPA-5 for the rears and have two channels open for a future 7.1 setup, OR sell the XPA-5 and get an XPA-3 in an attempt to recoup some of your investment.
But that XPA-5 should be just fine for HT duties. Are you feeling like something is lacking?
Sorry... i didn't realize that you had a 5.1 separates setup.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

That's the conventional approach. -
I have an XPA-5 and a Sunfire Cinema Grand powering a full LSI system, the only difference is I'm running 15's up front.
I've tried this several ways, Bi-amping the fronts with the rears on the other amp, the front and center on one amp and the rears on the other, and all channels off 1 amp.
Even though the 2 amps have different sonic signatures I still didn't see a large enough difference when running the fronts off just one amp. That being said it was a plus to have the fronts and center on the same amp, it sounded more cohesive than when powering the front and center on 2 separate amps.
Since I didn't see much of a benefit from having the fronts by themselves, I'd have to recommend keeping all the channels on one amp.

Not lacking...I guess just expecting too much from the front stage. The rears work great off of the Emo. I dont usually turn my HK pass 54-55, maybe I should turn it up more while watching movies.
Yes i've got a 5.1....I wanted to turn my HT into a 7.1...but must new releases arent 7.1 yetTV:Sony Bravia XBR4 52'
