I have been trying to search everywhere for recommendations as to whether to spend double on the TSI100 or 200 vs the Monitor 30 or 40. If they sound the same then it will be an easy choice, lol. I have to replace all of my speakers. Just sold my 19 yr old advent heritage towers (loved them for music) on CL and should have sold my KLH center channel for 10 bucks obo. Happy to start out with front 3 only. I have a psw350 sub. I am also concerned about the depth of the tsi200/monitor 40 cabinet. Will the smaller speaker give up much to the larger models in midrange and midbass impact? Thats what the advents did the least well. please help -driving my wife crazy...

I ran into a similar problem when i was trying to get fronts for my system and trying to match my Cs10 center, after i checked around i kept hearing that the monitor line and newer Tsi line are only cosmetically different, but basically identical in sound, thats why i ended up going with the Monitor 60's. So i think you'd be better off spending less money on the monitor line, maybe even moving up to the Monitor 60's. On newegg you can get the 60's for the same price as the tsi200 i got mine on there for 230 for both. Hope this helps

Because you are used to tower speakers perhaps you should look into some tower speakers to avoid disappointment. I realize we are all under budget constraints but the monitor 50's 60's and 70's can be had for dirt cheap from newegg (new) and even cheaper on ebay from polk direct (refurbished). When I grabbed up my 70's for 170 each I couldn't have been happier.

    WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!

Save yourself the headaches, buy some M70s (there is NOTHING better in the M-line) and Enjoy!!!

Or you can go to a Polk get together and hope you win a pair of TSI-500s like Jeff?

Just recently upgraded myself to all new equipment and couldnt be happier. The M40s are a descent size but they do sound great and do agree that for the price the 60s are a steal right now on newegg.com. I got my 70s for 179 a few weeks ago and like grimmace19 was very happy and even happier when i hooked them up! Good luck and welcome to club polk!

LOL C, hey stranger things have happened, right? I have to agree with the recommendations for the Monitor series. I have 70's and 4's and I couldn't be happpier, they sound great. For the prices they can be had for these days, they are hard to beat. As cnh said, I have the Monitor 70's and the TSi 500's, honestly I like my 70's better, but the 500's are no slouches either. For the money though, it's the Monitor 70's hands down.
