I always hear about how the American Idol machine just devours young people with very unfair contracts.
If they are paying this much to the contestants, they are obviously making much more money off of them (they get famous, manager gets rich).
I am guessing a lot of people could never break into, let alone be successful, in recording industry without exposure American Idol provides, but does it seem like a fair trade off for contestants, or are they still just being chewed up and spit out by the Idol machine?

That show is joke and the whole setup is coached and pre-scripted.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

When you say pre-scripted, does that mean that Idol producers choose the songs for the contestants, or just that the overall flow (e. g. judge and contestant comments) of each show is pre-scripted?

Last week when the Olympics beat it in the ratings was the first time it had lost in 6 years. It's routinely the highest rated show on televison week after week.
It's not a surprise they make a lot of money, I'm glad the contestants get some.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Maybe pre-determined is a better choice of words than pre-scripted.
As far as compensation, most who try to make it in music never make a dime, so I'd say they do alright. I'm sure there are people that would pay to be on the show, and get their shot at fame. -

Fixed it for you.Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."
President of Club Polk -
I feel Paula didn't want to play by this yrs. new policy if there is one. Kara was a nice addition and the Spice lady would've been a good one too!! But Ellen has no musical talent (simon doesn't either) so I feel she should not be there judging others. Simon was enough for the outside type looking/judging in for the (masses)common people. There was another single mom that I thought had a great voice and she didn't make it either.
This year is one big mess..
On Carrie Underwoods' side, I see she is doing some TV show part and I give her koodo's for that. She might have more talent than I gave her credit for. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Simon actually DOES have musical talent, he just chooses to not use it most of the time. He's composed some in the past.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.
