Sorry if this is a dumb question. But I've been driving a manual since about 6 months after I got my license and I honestly don't know. When you are driving, can you quickly switch the car from drive to nuetral? A manual would simply press in the clutch and slow down(your car will red line and but you still be intact). If this is possible though, for you to get up to 90 mph and plenty of time to react to put into nuetral but hey, I never been in that situation...AVR: H/K AVR240

Not true. Many cars have a lockout that will not let you disengage the transmission if the throttle is at 95% open or better. Why, I'm not sure. Other than the car's interest in self-preservation. But this is the reason that Toyota has to install software that senses throttle and brake position and cuts the engine out in cases like what happened with the rental Lexus.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
