Onkyo HT-R667 - no video with composite cables?

I'm helping my father-in-law re-hookup his HT-R667 and am running into a strange problem. There is an HD cable box hooked up with HDMI and an HDMI out to a Samsung LCD, which is working perfectly. The problem is that any component that I try plugging in using composite (Y/R/W) connectors has no video display. I can hear the audio (Wii and a DVD player), but no picture displays. Is there a menu setting I missed, or is it possible his kids fried something when they were jacking around with it plugging in x-boxes? I need some help.

And it's been forever since I was on, but my TX-SR876/Emotiva UPA-7 Polk LC265i / Polk LCiC / Polk LC80i setup is complete and mindblowing. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions back in the day.

Does the receiver do analog - digital conversion for video? If not you will need to run an composite out from the receiver to the tv as well.

Edit: it looks like that unit does do analog to HDMI:

"but the HT-S6100 is also going to take analog sources (from component video, S-video and composite video) and upscale them to HD-friendly 1080i resolution for HDMI output."

    Let me look some more.

Are you using different inputs for the dvd / wii than the cable box? The manual says that the order of precedence on inputs is HDMI -> Component -> s-video -> composite. For a DVD player or the Wii I would switch to Component cables (they're cheap) so that you can assign the inputs (you can assign HDMI and component inputs, but not s-video or composite). The better picture is just an added bonus of the component cables. You can get component cables for the Wii and the dvd player for a couple dollars on monoprice.

Cable box is hooked in using an HDMI cable. Weird thing is, I had the DVD player and Wii hooked up when he got it back in December. His stepson rewired what I did to set up an Xbox360 and now nothing using composite is working for video - just audio.

The father in law is one of those guys with money who is afraid to spend it on quality stuff. He got a $25 bargain brand DVD player from Target that has - get this - one set of composite outputs and an S-video output. I (somehow) managed to convince him to go get a blue-ray player today, so that should solve that problem. I also ordered a component cable for the Wii, so that should handle THAT issue.

So basically right now I'm trying to determine why the composite video isn't being passed through in case they want to add anything using that format.

Oh, ok. I don't know how they could have fried the composite connections, but I'm sure anything is possible.
