Need Advice on buying a used Subwoofer - Velodyne CHT-10

Hi All,

This is my first post here!

I currently have a Sony SA-W2500 subwoofer and a co-worker has offered to sell me her Velodyne CHT-10 subwoofer. She bought it right before a divorce 5 yrs ago and has literally been sitting since. I have taken a look at it and it really does look brand new. Yeah, I know it's an older sub but for $125 do you think it's a good deal? And more importantly, is it an upgrade to my current Sony sub? Here's a link to the only review i could find:

http://www.hometheatermag.com/subwoofers/177/

My setup currently is:
A/V Receiver - Yamaha RX-V663
Front Main - Polk Monitor 60
Center - Polk CS2
Surrounds - Polk Monitor 40
Subwoofer - Sony SA-W2500

I don't really have any complaints about my Sony but would buy the Velodyne if it's considered an upgrade.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    Welcome!!
Well, it is most certainly an upgrade to what you have now. I personally own the CT-120 and have been very pleased with the sound and performance. What size room are you looking to put it in?
    It's all in the detail.

    HT Setup:
    Samsung PN50D550
    Onkyo TX-SR805
    Samsung BD-D6700
    Fronts: RTi10's
    Center: CSi5
    Side surrounds: RC65i's
    Rear surrounds: FXiA4's
    Sub: Velodyne CT120
    Outdoor: Atrium 45's

Thank you! I told her I would buy it and she was thrilled that she could get it out of her house. She said it weighs about 50lbs! Can't wait to install it and run it through its paces.
