Does anyone know of anything to convert a video signal from a DVD player or HDTV receiver to be used on a computer monitor? I know they are out there but which ones are crap and which ones are worth considering? Real HDTV resolutions are a necesity since I figure I could use the computer as the HDTV "viewing center" when the time is right. Would like to stay under $100, up to $150 is OK but not prefered.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not much of a video guy. My habbits are about 85 music and 15 movies/tv, so most of my knowledge is pure audio.

i've got one to sell, not sure if it meets your resolution needs. It does both composite and s-video, and has a pass-through so you can leave your computer connected, if you have a computer hooked up to same monitor. This is the model I have:

I only paid $85 for it, I would let you have it for half that. I've sinced upgraded because I needed a model with an integrated TV tuner, I still have the original on my other computer for video game purposes. Let me know if you are interested -
So half of 85 is $42.50 - is that it or do you round up or down or what? I'm a man of details.
If I was paying > $100 for something I would want better resolution, but for $40, it should work for now. I'll get back to you later, have to do a little research first.
BTW - I will need regular **** composite too, so I would need another converter or something that does composite, too.
edit - I'm defragmenting for the first time in 3 years, so don't expect much research from me tonight. -
half of 85 is 35 for a club polk member, plus actual shipping, probably through USPS since it is easy and usually the cheapest.
You must have overlooked it in my first post, this unit has S-VIDEO AND COMPOSITE inputs. There isnt a switch, the way it works is if there is an S-Video input present, it does S-video no matter what. If you want to do composite, you unplug the s-video cable.
Im pretty sure that I have the original box and everything. Let me know if you decide you want it. -
Ohhhhhhh, (clouds parting and sun's rays shining down on the summit of the holy mountain) - I thought you said component.
Damn, couldn't they think of another word? -
I figured this was the mistake, I agree composite and component are way too confusing
