Bluetooth from iPod, Pure Digital?

Instead of buying a Wadia 170i to get digital off of your ipod touch, could you use it's Bluetooth capabilities and a receiver with wireless capabilities to stream it in pure digital? Would there be any data loss or problems with this? Thanks.

Nope. Wadia worked with Apple in a special agreement to reverse engineer to get original digital signal out. The i170 works great, though one still needs an outboard DAC. Of course Wadia just released a DAC/int amp combo in the same body size shape as the i170.Review Site_ (((AudioPursuit)))

That's what I was thinking, but do you know why? Would the ipod convert the signal to analog, and then the bluetooth device convert it back to digital to send the data stream out?

BlueTooth is a heavily compressed signal. Any benefits to direct digital streaming would be lost in the fact you would be taking a potential PCM signal and transferring it at a MP3 bit rate.

That's one of the features of this excellent product from chord. It's a bluetooth DAC compatible with iPOD touch: http://www.chordelectronics.co.uk/products_detail.asp?id=532 Channel

Cpyder,
But I think the best way to use your iPOD touch is to put all your music on a desktop PC, then buy an Apple Airport Express to stream the music to your stereo system. You can then take the digital out of the Apple AE to a good DAC. THEN, you use the iPOD touch REMOTE app to control your iTUNES from your iPOD touch via wifi. You get to use your PC to store all your music in hi res format in iTunes, manage it on your PC, and then your iPOD touch controls it all from your listening chair. Pretty great...2 Channel
