Hello All, it has been a long time since last time I was here. Well, since then I had my SDA 1C perfectly setup. Meaning, proper amp, placement, upgraded rdo's and all was perfect. Well, since then, I have had to move to a very small place, still have my stereo equipment, but my place, does not allow me to run 1) sda cable 2) proper speaker placement. So here is my issue: I want to run my sda 1c without ic cable with a non-common ground amp, so do i need to strapped the negs on the amp even if I am not using the ic cable? Speaker placement is going to be very odd, but I have to make it work.
Please any suggestions would be amazing,
Thanks,
Carlos

Why can't you hook up the SDA cable?
Your place doesn't allow you to?
Keep in mind that SDA's are very picky for placement. They can't have any toe-in/toe-out, like to be fairly close to the back walls, and need plenty of breathing room on the sides. Longer walls generally work the best for maximum SDA effect. The nirvana inducer-

The problem I am having is that I have moved to a small log cabin, and the only location for my speakers is one at a good level, the othe r has to go 4 feet higher than the other with like 10 feet separation. So, they are not going to be on same plane at all.

If you do not use the SDA cable then the speakers are just NORMAL L/R speakers and the common ground amp is a non-issue!
But running SDAs without their cable is kind of...well, counterproductive. How you strap the amps together does, partly depend on the amps as well.

I was under the impression, that I could do some damage to them if I ran them regular.

I've run a pair of SDA 2Bs without the SDA cable, no problem! But I'd wait to also get some confirmation on other member's experiences. I don't see why there should be a problem logically....the SDA cable is sending another current between the two speakers and that causes the common ground issue, at least that is my understanding.
Anyone else????

Woah. I'd try to avoid that if at all costs. That's not really going to create an ideal soundstage...to say the least. The nirvana inducer-

Either way, with or without the SDA cable, I agree with Curt!
That is lousy placement...SDAs have pretty tight placement tolerances.

I know that is not optimal, but that is what I have to deal with for now. I very well know placement is crucial for my 1c's, but I can't help this. Just had to sell my house and moved to this tiny place. With this placement, my 1cs have to be better than my spare 8tl. I just want to know for sure that I am not going to damaged my 1cs without the ic, and weather I have to strapped my amp if I run them without ic cable.

There will be NO damage to the speakers when used without an interconnect cable. I ran my 1Bs without a cable for well over a year. Having resolved several issues, the cable is now back in place and all is well.
If there is no SDA interconnect cable in use, there is no restriction limiting you to common-ground amplifiers. Therefore, no need to strap the amps if you have no SDA cable in place. -

Common ground or non-common ground is NOT an issue if you are not using the innerconnect cable.
No furthur worries or discussion is needed. Just remember you have a non-common ground amp, IF you ever decide/are able to use the innerconnect cable in the future."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience.
