Crutchfield.com is currently offering a pair of RTi38s for $340. Almost too good to pass up and I think I'm going to bite! I'd just like to get a little input before I do.

Currently my room layout is as in the attached JPG and I have the receiver/speakers listed in my sig.

I plan on adding the RTi38s to the Rear wall but due to the placement of doors, they will need to be rather close to each other What's an optimum distace between the rear speakers? Is there a suggested angle from the "sweet spot? Should these speakers be elevated if possible?

I assume the best thing to do with the FXi50s is to leave them where they are and leave them set to dipole?

Thanks for any advice!

Damn! Nothing seems to be working. I can view the JPG on my computer just fine but I can't view it if I upload it anywhere at all. Weird.

    You're welcome to try here:

Still no luck w/ the jpeg. I'm guessing you have the F/X on the sides? If that's the case, the RTi38's would be perfect on the rear wall......elevated high.

Yep, I'm clueless as to why its not working, but don't want to waste any more time figuring it out.

Yep, you're right. FXi50s are on the sides.

CC has 'em online for $340 with free shipping. If Crutchfield has a shipping charge that might be a better way to go

If you plan on getting them, consider this. Those one's for $270 on ebay are actually $300 after shipping. And I don't believe they are authorized dealers....so support just in case you got some bad one's might be "sketchy." I'd just fork over the extra $40 at CC or Crutchfield and not worry bout the anxiety. Just my 2 cents. Either way though, you'll be much satisfied with the RTi38's. Good luck

I am a firm believer in getting the best deal, and I consistently buy things mailorder. However, I agree that buying locally has real value and that the cash flow is not the only consideration. Not only if you need service, but just a matter of supporting the local economy.

And, you don't always save that much by mailordering. I bought a VCR at Sears a couple of years ago, and the guy matched an ON LINE price that I had. I told him.. I want this VCR and I don't want to write you a check over $200.. tax, title, everything.. he did it. I did the same thing at CC last year when I bought a receiver... told the guy they'd had it on sale over Christmas and that I'd like to walk out of the store without paying over X dollars... he came back with a price five bucks less than I wanted.. he got the sale.

Usually, I'll easily pay an extra 10-15% if it means I can hop in my car, bring it home that day, and give the profit to a local business. The percentage of things I buy mailorder is still pretty high simply because a LOT of things aren't available locally.
