What I am a little nervous/anxious about is my son has a championship basketball game at 7:00pm tonight. He plays for the middle school team and is a starting forward. They are also playing in the high school gym for the first time so that in itself is intimidating. The stands will be packed and a lot of pressure on all the young guys on both teams. It's the first time in almost 10 years this school made it this far. Our school is small compared to schools who they compete against that have over 400 enrolled and we have less than 150
enrolled. Oh well, the guys are holding their own and then some.

I told my son this morning over breakfast that no matter what happens I am proud of you. He really is a great student/friend to all the students/respectful to his elders/a great athlete. His little sister even came up and gave him a hug and said she loves him, how great is that!!!!!

Now I have to go iron his uniform. I told him I'll iron it for him since this is a special game :) Drew Jr. even got his hair cut (I did too) Saturday morning joking it will make him more aerodynamic for Monday night. He's got a great sense of humor too.

Thanks

Nerve-racking, but it sure is fun! My sophmore daughter's team made the Texas 5-A tournement for the first time ever (5 year history for the school) last week. They won their first, but dropped a very close one in their second game (I might add that it is pretty unbelievable that the other team only had 3 fouls called the entire game..). It was a great experience for her and they only lose one senior to graduation. Two more years of this, and then we'll have one more coming up in a few years.

Hope your son has a great game and hope he continues to enjoy playing all through high school. It's a lot of work and frustration when there are "better things to do", but most will tell you afterwards that it was worth it.

Yep, these types of moments are what takes LIFE to another level.

    Enjoy the fervour!

But the outcome is always 50/50 in a game.
We can only do our best and sometimes FATE just wants it to be another way sometimes. Good Luck tonight.;)

As long as you didn't let him get a mullet to streamline his look........cuz then we might have to question your parenting......:-P

Congratulations to you and your family. My wife just called and asked if I am excited and I told her yes of course. I left out how anxious I am. We have been through a few little league championships before but this is a BIG game.
No matter the out come I am real proud of the guys. Hopefully they will have the best officiating crew present. I don't even want to go there but the officiating has been pretty bad. This is not my opinion even though I have seen some lazy ref's but more so everyone's opinion that some are incompetent.

I don't think you could be more correct.

We are really great parents and it shows from the results. Drew Jr. goes for the buzz cut about a half inch all around. He looks like an athlete that way I guess. It's his call.

Good luck to your son and his team! Take lots of video and let us know what happens.

Thanks John. I will try and remember the video camera.

I won't be drinking so I hopefully won't fall down the bleachers. How embarrassing would that be. A sober guy falling down the bleachers :D

Thanks man! Drew Jr. will be handling the tip off too. He's the tallest on the team at 5'10 1/2" so the coach sends him in for that duty. If they win I hope I don't cry, I am not kidding. If I do I will be honest and say so.

Good luck to him, and if you cry, good on ya. Watching the kid's soccer team I coached win this year had me near tears a couple of times, so I can't imagine watching my own child in a championship....
