Klipsch Hersey III

As this hobby continues to suck me in deeper, I found a deal on a brand new pair of Klipsch Hersey IIIs that I couldn't resist.
Unhooked my Polk RT2000i's and hooked up the Herseys about two weeks ago. Powering them with a Parasound Halo A21 amp and P3 pre amp. Using Kimber 8tc speaker cables. Also using a Polk PSW 450 sub.
I've had the same pair of ears attached to my head for over 47 years now. Granted taste in speaker sound is subjective, but these speakers don't at all sound like "bull horns" to me. I am really impressed. Extremely efficient. They are bright, but not at all "harsh" as many people claim. I am really enjoying them. The sub certainly helps with the low end...

I've heard adding tubes into the mix really help the horns on the Klipsch's

Congrats! I've wanted a pair of those for a long time. My step-bro used to have a pair, and I never thought they were harsh at all.--Gary--

Great speakers. Enjoy! I've a soft spot for the heritage klipsch speakers. Always like them myself. Many years ago I purchased a brand new pair of Klipsch Chorus speakers. This was back before klipsch went mainstream. The Chorus had a 15" woofer combine with a horn mid and tweeter. I think they were aroud 100db effeciency. They were fanstastic. Nothing like it really.2 Channel

I've bought and sold a lot of Heresy's over the past few years, I too was expecting bright, top heavy, harsh sound - last rig I had them on was some old Mitsu gear, one of the big dual mono jobs they used to make that still have a following, GREAT stuff.
Cheers,

The original Heresey is what got me hooked on audio to begin with, way back when I was knee high to a duck.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I own a pair of Cornwalls and would love some Heresys. They are one of my favorite Klipsch speakers. I'm glad you're enjoying them.

Nice. I think the pair you got is the newer and improved model. They sound great. Get some tubes on them and they can really sing.

Yup, the III is the latest and greatest version of the classic Heresy. They are a great value, especially with a good sub or two.THE MAN-CAVE 5.1 CHANNEL A/V RIG

If you want more bass, you can try a pair of Cornwalls. For the price of a good sub, you can find a used Cornwall in decent shape. They can really pound. I have a pair of 1982 Cornies. I'm a big Klipch fan. Used to have a pair of La Scala.
Glad you're diggin them. Horns kick ****. -
I agree. I'd rather have Cornwalls than Heresys w/ subs...at least for music. For HT, I dunno. How about Corns AND subs!
I owned Cornwalls from '85-'93; oak oil w/ cane grills. Maybe the best klipsch heritage value?THE MAN-CAVE 5.1 CHANNEL A/V RIG

Considered the CW3s. However, their "footprint" is just a way too big for our living room. Needed to be sensitive to my wife's decor...
I actually had a long conversation with a very helpful individual at Klipsch tech support. They actually recommended the H3s over the CW3s for my situation.
The H3s work well with my Polk PSW 450 sub. I was actually looking to reduce my low end. I was getting too much when running my Polk RT 2000is (which have built in subs). Surely that could have been easily fixed. However, I needed/wanted to have a reason justify buying more speakers.
I was a bit worried about running Klipsch horns with my SS gear. I took a bit of a gamble, but I am extremely pleased with the result. More so every day.
Of course, preference for a specific speaker sound is subjective to the individual listener.

Got any pics?

Obviously, I need to refine their placement. Yep. Tucked in a little tight....
Also, have them slightly elevated (with some temporary "make shift" stands) to about ear height (when seated). Working on finding some nice looking small stands. 12 to 18 inches up should be about perfect....
Since my wife probably wouldn't be happy with my moving furniture around to accommodate my speakers, last night I purchased from Amazon a quality folding zero gravity recliner that I can temporarily install and then easily put away at my leisure. Can't wait for that thing to arrive so I can set up camp equal distance and in the middle. I'll get a little table for my remote and drink and I'll be good to go....

I'd be careful with the stands. My experience with heresy II's was that 30" stands, well out from the room corners killed pretty much everything below 200Hz. Maybe the shorter stands you're talking about, combined with corner placement would be just the ticket. just a thought.THE MAN-CAVE 5.1 CHANNEL A/V RIG
