Any recent integrated amps or DACs with a more sleeker form factor? Like some Arcam models, but under a grand. Will be paired with a 2-ch bookshelf setup.

Check out the Peachtree Nova or Decco.

Peachtree's offerings look somewhat retro IMO. I'm trying to choose something with a more "modern" look.

How about a used Bang & Olufsen Beomaster? Sleek form factor, maybe a little out of date but still somewhat modern looking.

Was looking for something new, preferably made in the last couple years or so.

While you said you weren't really into the Peachtree Nova's look.. I just picked one up and have been really happy with its USB connection, amp, and sound. Just in case it enters into consideration for your rig in the future

Look into the new Wadia DAC/Amp combo that mates with it 170i iPod digital dock. This gives you are small, and powerful system.

"The Wadia 151PowerDAC mini is a high performance DAC and surprisingly powerful amp combined into the series 1 chassis. The 151PowerDAC mini measures 2”x 8”x 8” (H x W x D) which is the same size as the 170iTransport; making it an ideal audio solution for modern living and work spaces. You can use an existing CD/DVD player with a digital coax or Toslink output, your computer with USB or perhaps the Wadia 170iTransport. Add a pair of your favorite speakers to the 151PowerDAC mini for a complete music system."

Looks very interesting. March 2010 is a bit vague, but we'll see. Anyone use Wadia products?

These are nice. I haven't heard one, but I was considering a Decco before I bought something else.

They have a great sound to them, and IMO, best in class for the price.

Bel Canto makes a sleek modern DAC/Amp combo. Beautiful. More than a grand though...

    DAC3? Absolutely. Unfortunately, 2K+.
