ok, i think i'm finally diving into the surround sound realms but i want to do it somewhat piecemeal due to financial constraints.

right now, my system is comprised of:
- sony STR-DE597 receiver (probably to be upgraded to a STR-DN1000 eventually... unless someone else has another suggestion for a similar price)
- JBL ND310 floor speakers
- polk PS10

i love the ND310s, but they take up too much floor real estate for corner that my AV system is in. so i think i'm starting with new fronts and centers. i'd like to stick with floor standing fronts, but with a smaller base than the ND310s 13"x13" footprint. as for the center, size is the concern as well: it needs to go directly in-front of my 46" LCD... so it can't be much higher than 6" or deeper than 7".

so... any recommendations for a fronts-ceneter combo? the smallest center i see from polk is the RM series. any floors that go with those without significant differences?

You want to go with satellites after having towers??

I'd suggest Rtis the higher model the better and the matching CSi speakers.

I'd go with a Pioneer Elite 21--or Pioneer 9000 series (can't remember the exact final numbers).

Of course all these speakers are NOT small. Their footprint is less than 13 inches wide--much less...but more than 13" deep...and reasonably tall.

But this would be a good HT package for you. Give them a listen!
