plus listing fees and all that . nope no vaseline! thanks for asking though. heres the real rub. i spoke to a buyer(i was the seller) and agreed that if the reserve price wasnt met i would buyitnow to him for 270+shipping. it didnt reach the reserve so i sent hime a second chance offer. his highest bid was 255 so thats the offer it sent him. he sends 270 from paypal. under shipping i wrot 15.00 wait for invoice actuall shipping applies. mind you i built this amp and have about 300 in it plus labor. he stiffs me for the shipping(17.50) and ebay seneeks up with a 19.99 charge for second chance! WTF? so i sold an awesome little linear amplifier for 45 less than it cost me to build. payed for shipping and then got charged 27.45 for the listing! um i fell really stupid right now!

more beer! definitly more beer!

OOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo You really hurt my feelings
Is that the best you can do? Pretty pathetic in my opinion.
If you really need the $20.00 so bad I'll help you out a little. PM me your address and I'll send you maybe $5.00 or $6.00. -

i though i was pretty good at fine print but i guess they slipped that one past me. if anybody knows where that fee is listed id sure like to see it. -
Epay will do stuff like that. but remember they DID lower their listing fees a couple years ago.. so you prob saved at least .30 cents upfront costs.. and if you bought the picture pack, you prob saved another .15 cents at least. LOL
sorry I know it sucks. I once sold a car on there and got hammered on this and that fee. I lost over $250 on them and paypal fees.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

funny you mention paypal...i forgot they charged a fee at the time of transaction lol. welp!!!no more selling on ebay. ive only sold a dozen things there anyway i just buy stuff generally. -
E-Bay never ripped me off. Actually they have been really good with every purchase we have made. I am starting to like them even more now.

EBay fees can sneak up on you sometimes. Go to their support page and do an online chat with a rep and (politely) explain that you didn't realize that particular fee applied. Most like they will reimburse you as long as this is your first (and only) time that it's happened.
As far as PayPal, I'm not sure how you "forgot" that a fee is attached. Merchants have payed 3%+ for electronic payments forever, and there's no hiding from the fact that PayPal charges for transactions. And they should. You're paying for the convenient and speed.
I feel bad for you about the EBay fees, not so much for the PayPal. But contact EBay and see what they'll do for you.Speakers: Polk LSi15

i knew of the paypal fees i forgot to mention them in the list of **** thats all.:D -
From what I read, you are supposed to be charged only the final value fees when you do a 2nd chance offer. I can't see any fee of $19.99. I'd check with Ebay regarding that fee.
I'm a little confused on how you say the guy stiffed you for shipping. You said $15 for shipping. You sent him an offer of $255. He sent $270. That's your offer+your shipping. How did he stiff you? If you thought he was supposed to honor the previous $270 price+shipping, your insane. You sent him an offer for $255.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

you dont have to understand it. but when i make a deal i stick to it. if i said i was going to buy a set of speakers for 500 bucks and my highest bid was 200 then the guy sends me a second chance for 200 i would pay 500. in fact it happened on a simplicity tractor. the guy sent me the "second chance offer" of 1700 and i paid the 2600 that he and i agreed on. im not insne friend im HONEST. -
heres what happened as i just got off the tele. the "free insertion fee" isnt as free as it seems. you still have the listing fee(play on words) but instead of an insertion fee the final value fee is then turned into a percentage. so items between 25.01 and 400 are a flat rate of 8.75 percent. an example...my item was 255.00. normally 8.75% for the first 25.00 or 2.19+ 3.5% for the remainder of the value up to 1000 or 230x.035 or 8.05 total final value of 10.24. in this case it was 8.75% of 255 or 22.31. its a twist of numbers to gain on the most prevailant valued items sold. i didnt read deep enough my fault. so ultimatly final value fee of 22.31 on a 255 sale = no more business for ebay. insanity is bliss!

Dan have you been drinking Bro? I just read your post a few times and it seems to me that you paid $500 to a fellow who agreed on a $200 price. Plus the "second chance offer" of $1700 on a tractor you paid him $2600. I'm either loosing my mind or there is something wrong with this picture. -
just asking
did you try selling the amp here in the CP For Sale section ? -

no.no.no.no and yes .yes .yes .yes. i have been drinking but... ok say you have a set of widgets. the buy it now is 1000 the auction is 6 days and ive bid 200. i send the seller an email that says if you dont get your reserve will you sell for 500? he says yes. the auction ends and the reserve is not met. he sends me a seond chance offer that computer defaults to 200 as that was the highest bid thatI placed. i then would buy them for 500 as he and i agreed. not the 200 that the computer sent as that was not our agreement.
smae with the mower. my bid at the 3 day mark was 1700. his reserve turned out to be 2750(info i didnt have at the time) and buy it now for 2900. i sent him an emaill that offered 2600 if the reserve wasnt met. even though i only bid 1700 i still paid 2600 as agreed. its simply honoring your word as a man and doin what you said you would do. or honesty as i like to call it. -

no, its a linear amplifier for rf/ham radio. -
wow...ham operators are usually a pretty tight group. Did you ask him about his amount? I respect you for honoring your offer. I bought a pool table I saw on ebay after the action ended. We had a price set if it didn't sell...and it didn't. Then the guy calls me like an hour later and said he was offered $1000 more than I did and he would let me have it if I wanted to match the new offer. I turned him down, and told him he needed to do what he needed to do. Fifteen minutes later he calls me back and said I was right...we had a deal and he honored it.

chances are he was a cber. i dont mean that bad but the comeradrie isnt there as much as fellow deskies. the reason i think that is he wanted to know if 1-40 was between 10 and 20m and if it would cover those bands. i said yes but installed a variable cap and sent some extra silver micah in case i have to talk him through it over the phone. 120 150 270 and 320 if i remember right. -
