Why do some people mount their subs with the back sticking out of the box instead of the front.

    there are two reasons.


    1- they are unable to make a box deep enough to conform to the basket depth of the speaker.

    2- purely cosmetic purposes and a desire to "show off".

    reason 2 is more common than reason 1.

    in reality you get a decrease in performance from teh speaker as the baket, the magnet, and the "guts" of the speaker are in the way of the soundwaves eminating off the back of the cone.

    traditional mount gives the best sound when possible.
