    Do everything :)

If you use the search function on this forum and do a lot of reading it will benefit you greatly.

Upgrading will cost a few bucks and will be well worth it to say the least. RDO's are a simple/easy upgrade and at $50.00 each a wise move.

After they burn-in and you get the benefit of the better tweeters I'd move on to the x-overs. This is when you need to study a little and ask questions. Its not that difficult if you prepare and take your time. You could always send them (x-overs) to our resident doctor (Ben) for the upgrade.

Mye sound spikes are a easy upgrade and a good one too! https://myesound.com/Home_Page.html

    Good luck

I think trying to turn them into tl's might be quite an undertaking,, when I had my 2.3's,, I upgraded the crossovers with sonicaps amd mills resistors, popped in the rdo 194's,,and i could have lived with those for years,,alas,, too much speaker for my room size..nothing wrong with a pair of upgraded 2,3's,,good luck, and enjoy.

hogsfly, modifying 2.3's to 2.3TL (2.3SD really; SD=Silk Dome) is fairly costly, compared to upgrading the crossover and tweeters on an existing pair of 2.3TL's. All the inductors except one are different, all the R's except one are different, all the C's except 1 are different, and the crossover topology is slightly different so you have to change/add the different connections. 4 of the midbass drivers are different (or maybe it's 2; I forget), and I think there's also some cabinet structural differences.

There've been a couple threads about this. I'll see if I can find them later.

Bottom line, it can be done, but it's more work and more costly than a resto-mod of an existing pair of 2.3TL's.

edit: here's a link to one of the threads (and additional links within this thread)

I'd do the xovers and stick with the RD-0194.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

ditto that. I did exactly what Mark is suggesting. I did use the Mortite around the woofers and tweeters and put on some nice spikes. The modest, inexpensive changes tightened the base and seemed to focus the image. Don't forget to upgrade your interconnect cable. You can also get some better cable terminals and jumpers. Some folks will wire the terminals together to eliminate the need for a jumper. This is a very cheap mod if you don't intend to biwire or bi-amp. Plus if you use ring terminals the mod is completely reversible.

Good luck! The SRS-SDA 2.3's are awesome sounding speakers!

+1 to what Doro said. Someone will correct me if I am wrong here, but I believe there to be a few differences in the internal cabinet bracing as well.

Not to mention that the right speaker would have to become the left speaker and vice versa.

If you really want 2.3TL's, buy a pair.

Interesting...I did not know that part of the story.

So a regular 2.3 is oriented like this? (just guessing) :

    left speaker
    S
    DTs
    DTs
    ST

    right speaker
    S
    sTD
    sTD
    TS

where T is for tweeter, D is for dimensional driver, and S and s are the stereo drivers (and I'm just guessing, they are set to have slightly different response)

Yeah, basically except the top and bottom outside edge drivers are sub-bass (SB) drivers.

    left speaker
    SB
    D T S
    D T S
    SB T

    right speaker
    ......SB
    S T D
    S T D
    ...T.SB

Damn thing won't let me post the letters where I want, but you get the idea. Let's try adding some dots.
