Hello Dalai

Here's a pic of my daughter and some other students (a few years ago) in Dharmasala.
Punchline: "Okay, so who's the guy in the funny robes next to Bob Jones?"

The guy just keeps on smiling.

Not a title I would see appropriate in an audio forum.

Read the Hello Dalai link in the OP. The Dalai Lama is a thorn it the side of China...and the US in particular has been giving him some status...thereby pissing off China.

Evidently the OP happens to like the current state of events and is posting about it.

LOL, I thought the OP was gonna be railing against China for selling off all those T-bills, thus causing the Fed to raise % rates.
But, I guess this issue is valid too.

Yo Dan, if you are referring to my remark, it wasn't directed at you. Take a deep breath man.

I fail to see anything embarrassing there.

He supports peace? This is a bad thing?

Also, I kind of doubt that Barack is the one in charge of taking the garbage out. The White House, like every other place of business or residence in the country, produces garbage. They were supposed to clear it out so the paparazzi could get some better pictures?

I don't know what the coverage in the U.S. has been like concerning this affair but I've seen tons of commentary here in China about all of this. In general, it's much adieu about nothing and it will continue to be business as usual regardless of the political gesturing on both sides.

So it is a moot point in China? I guess that article was just to take a shot at the current White House resident. Oh well!

The Chinese position goes something like this: Every U.S. President has met with the Dalai Lama in recent times....it is primarily a symbolic gesture that they do not like!

They'd rather not see it. And have to REPLY with STRONG denunciations in order to save face. They're probably a lot more pissed about U.S. arms sales to Taiwan at this point and are pretty much waiting for the Dalai Lama to die?

It seems like that's what half of the political news out there is anymore.

Some nonsense attempt to portray our leader in a bad light, when whatever point they're trying to make is completely insignificant. You've gotta love how sideways the news can be here.

This is the same as when everyone was freaking out over Obama bowing to Queen Elizabeth. Ever heard of mutual respect?

Bowing to the Queen is one thing, bowing to Arab heads of state is another especially when our current head of state was disrespected in the hand shaking fiasco. The president of the most powerful country and the leader of the free world should bow to NO ONE! I agree bowing to the Queen is a gesture of respect other than that forget it. IMHO.
It seems like that's what half of the political news out there is anymore.

Curt that has been going on, since the inception of the free press, in this county for two hundred years. It will never stop.

Won't another Dalai Lama be appointed to take his place? Perhaps appointed isn't the proper term but you get my drift.

I get what you mean...but I think China will counter that any NEWLY discovered Lama will be illegitimate and will have no physical connection with Tibet or the Tibetans in a Chinese Tibet? They seem to think that this waiting game will give them full legitimacy when the current Lama is gone! Whether that is true or not will depend A LOT on what Tibetans in Tibet 'think' and the jury is out on that...both for the Chinese and the Dalai Lama?

That's political brinkmanship for you. The T note sell off was directly linked to the Dalai's visit to the White House. It's about two guys who have each other by the proverbial nuts and are currently pissed off at each other. You're going to recognize my nemesis? here, let me sell some of your T bills to remind you that I own $ 300 billion worth of them. M.A.D. reinvented. :D
