7.1 Speakers need advice please.
Hi, Its very confusing when it comes to choosing speakers for HT. So i think the best way to decide is take advice from you guys on this matter.
Details on my HT: Room Type: Basement , Room size: 28ft Length and 20ft Width.
Current System: Amp/Rec : Yamaha Rx-v3900, Front Spkrs: Polk Tsi-500 , Center: Polk CS20 , Surrounds : Yamaha NS-300 towers ( My old spkrs ) , Back Surround: Yamaha NS-200 Bookshelf ( My old spkrs ) Sub: Polk Yammy old model power sub.
So now the problem is the Tsi-500 seems to be lacking on the Bass and mids so overall the output is not what i was expecting but the center seems to be ok then still sometimes i loose minor dailogue with lots of effects. Surrounds and back surrounds im thinking to go with Polk Fxi6 but not sure. On the Tsi500 its seems that these speakers are not the perfect match with my amp may they are under power so do you think i should switch these with RtiA9 and matching center and buy the Fxi6 for surrounds and DSW600 to complete the 7.1 polk system or should i change the complete brand and go with something else. Im thinking of Bic America Acoustech top range series too altough they are Horn type but the price is very very attractive for all 7.1 setup. So please please i will appreciate if you guys can show me the right path because i really dont want to spend all the time on the speakers just want to get over with it once. So im seeking advice and open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Your Yamaha receiver is great, I would not touch it but if I were you I would change out the speakers. I would invest in RtiA9's for the front mains and the correct Polk center speaker. Then I would find matching Polk surrounds. I don't care for Yamaha speakers and the Polk CS20 is too small. The Yamaha RX-v3900 is one of there best AVR's out there, so I would upgrade the speakers and sell the speakers you have to get the most out of your Yamaha. Just my opinion.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Carver A753 3 channel amp.
Polk HT system 2: , SRT system with f/x 1,000's rear speakers on 7.1 system currently using Onkyo TX-RZ820 receiver, powered by Sunfire Grand Theater amp
Polk Speaker collection: SDA SRS 1.2tl x 2, SRT system, SDA SRS 2 P/B, SDA 2A, SDA 1C Studio, SDA CRS+, Monitor 7B & 4, SRS 3.1tl, RTA 15tl, LS90, LSI 9 -

Sir thanks for the advice and thats what im thinking on RTIA9. By the way do you think the RtiA6 center would be good enough for the match and what about the Fxi6 are they going to be good match ??? Please let me know and what about the sub DSW-600 ???? I hope to hear your reply on this. -
The 6 is the center to get when using A9's in my opinion and is in the RTI series. the same for the surrounds you mentioned are also for the RTI series and are recommend by polk to use with the RTI's. That will be a good set up and will be a lot better than what you are currently using. Some people like to use towers instead for surrounds, however that is preferance as well as budget. The sound will be more localized and you will be able to tell more from where its coming from, which is why dipole/bipole speakers work well as they are to blend the sound in more.
Your AVR should be fine, in the future if you really wanted to upgrade, look to get an external amp and hook it up via pre out and you'll be ready to go. -
I totally agree with cstmar01. It would be a worthwhile investment. Good luck.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Thanks for the reply. By the way i do have an option to go with the Tsi400 for the rear surrounds if you think it will be better then Fxi6 ?

The Rti series is a better series of speaker than the Tsi series. Of coarse there is the cost factor to consider if your changing all of the speakers to Rti speakers. If you like the Tsi series then using the Tsi400 for rear surrounds is the easiest and cheapest way to go.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

So please tell me if you were in my situation would you go with Fxi6 for surrounds with Rtia9 or some matching Tower speakers for surrounds? -
If money was not an issue I would go for a complete Rti speaker system. People rave about the RtiA9 speaker for front mains. Team up the Rti speakers with that Yamaha you have and you will be more than satisfied.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Ok but what do you mean by Rti complete system ? What model for surrounds ?? By the way do you recommend that i use the front with bi connection ??? -
I would buy Rti A9 front mains, Rti Csi A6 center channel and Rti FX A6 rear surrounds. You will be pleased with the set up. It will be much better than what you have right now. I would sell off the speakers you have now to put toward the Rti set up.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

I don't think you would really need to bi-amp the A9's. They will be fine the way they are. Check out Polks used store on ebay for some good deals. Good luck.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
