hey everybody im looking to upgrade my receiver currently i have an onkyo 605 paired with rti8's fronts csi5 center and rti6's for rears. i feel like the onkyo doesnt have enough power to push these speakers. I had the onkyo paired with some klipsch quintet III at first then i got the upgrade bug and got the polks. The onkyo did well with the klipsch. it sounds pretty good with the polks but i just feel like im missing some detail or not sure how to describe it maybe dynamics. Im thinking something with more power would help drive the polks better. Im not looking to blow the house apart (but if I ever wanted to, it be nice to have the power) just want to find the detail (if thats the right term for it) im missing at my usual listening level.
front: rti8
center: csi5
surround: fxi3
sub: eD a2-300
receiver: onkyo 805
ps3

Does this receiver have preamp outputs? If so, get an amp to drive the front speakers. Moving to a more powerful receiver may not help much. There's really not much difference, volume-wise, between 90 and say, 130 watts.

I don't believe the Onkyo receivers have preouts until you get to the 700 series and higher. I have to believe that people will recommend a receiver that have preouts and then add some external amplification. More intelligent people than me will soon chime in on this.

Right on Rodeo, you have to get to the 7XX series before you get preouts. I have an 806 and it has yet to dissapoint.
