Movie and Music Database

At one point in time, I had downloaded a great movie database (I think it cost me around $25). Then my computer crashed and I lost it. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the data base. It was pretty simple, but did what I needed.

I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a good movie database as well as music database. The databases on collectorz.com seem cool, but they seem a bit pricey. Anyone ever use them?

Thanks,
Eric. . .

    Ummm...http://www.imdb.com

    Internet Movie Database.

    It's free.

Dunno if there is one for Music. Never tried looking. I imagine it'd be hard to secure rights for everything.

Here's one that seems decent for music: http://www.allmusic.com/

Dunno how obscure it gets though. Seems fairly complete on what it does have though.

Unless you are looking for a way to record what movies and music you do have.

    If so, use a spreadsheet.

I go to IMDB all the time. What I'm looking for is a database that I store all my movies in. With my old database, I would enter the movie name, and it would automatically download the movie information from IMDB (actors, directors, etc.). So, i could search my database for movies that I owned staring a certain actor, it would give me the results. I could even check out movies to someone who wanted to borrow a movie.

Damn I wish I remember the name of it!

I think you are looking for DVD Profiler.

    http://www.invelos.com/

It is a really cool program. Just enter the bar code and it downloads EVERYTHING into the database you could possibly want. Pictures, info, easter eggs, etc... There is a free version which is ok (low rez pictures and limited search options) or an upgraded pay version. I haven't upgraded yet as I really just want the organization to know what I have.

For a CD database, I use Music Collector Standard Edition from http://www.collectorz.com/music/. I picked it up a few years ago for $25. Either type in the barcode or insert the CD into the CD drive on your computer and it generates a database. You can even buy a barcode scanner to make it really fast.

http://www.collectorz.com also has some music & movie catalog programs that seem to be popular. I use the Book Collector product.

I just downloaded DVD Profiler last night, and while it isn't "perfect", the features it offers are well worth $30 for my 500+ dvd collection.

    Thanks for the tip shack!
