He has a thick accent and different personality but he's a real music lover & he will talk about it ALL day, so be prepared! I also visited Audio Solutions and they were very nice to me, allowing me to take home a complete system for audition (maybe they were just being nice to my cute girlfriend lol).
Man, I had no idea this place was here. It's like a 5 minute drive from my place. I will definitely stop by soon.
Thanks,

Thats the great thing about these posts, on other boards I have learned of some fantastic resources within miles of where I've been living for more than 5 years...great thread... -
The Analog Room, San Jose, CA. One of the finest hi-fi shops I've been in. Very nice selection of gear, even nicer folks running the place and no HT crap in sight.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Sounds like heaven.
Well, they're a little attitudinal, but they do sell some cool stuff and they did tolerate me the one time I managed to make it there.
Deja Vu Audio in McLean, VA is a nice place. http://www.dejavuaudio.com/ -
Ft. Wayne Indiana. Avoid Audio Video Lifestyles. Drove 1hr.45min. to demo a Rotel RB-1090 that had warranty left on it. Agreed to buy it after trying to listen to it on a set of B&K's that were ready to spit the woofers out , then they couldn't find paperwork and might be "B" stock, but only 2 years old. NOW I'm getting pissed!!! Said they would contact ROTEL while I went to bank. ( Hadn't signed anything yet . ). Come back and got good news and bad news. Good is NOT "B" stock but lost 6mos. on warranty. Happy NOT "B" stock I bought it. The moment it was paid for couldn't get me to leave soon enough. Called the next day on a tech. question and acted like I was bothering them. I got ROTEL tech. support involved starting to not trust the S.O.B"s. By serial number confirmed never serviced or "B" stock. I guess TECHNICALLY they didn't lie. It was a store transfer from Mt. Carmel IN. Only 2 years old in THEY'RE store. But I gained 6 mon. warranty over what store stated. I DO NOT trust them.

If your in the Ann Arbor MI area stop by Overture Audio. Some good selection on Audioquest, Paradigm and Rega gear. Also has a small room of demo gear to look at. The owner has his own opinion in regards to what he likes and doesn't like (Krell) which is cool and he is willing to help you out and demo stuff. Has some nice demo rooms set up and fair prices IMO on the used gear.
A place to go to if you like higher end stuff is Paragon. Be forewarned they like to sell and don't tend to like someone that is just looking (IMO) is the additude I got. They will be willing to show stuff off if they think they will make a sale on it but if you are just browsing I think there are better places that are more willing to show stuff off. They have some very nice gear however the demo and used room was like a closet and nothing was set up to be able to hear it. -
I seem to have better experiences going through online stores, such as Polk's ebay direct site, OneCall, and amazon.com.
In Seattle and its greater metropolitan area , I'd have to say that the original Magnolia Hi-Fi flagship store in Bellevue consists of not only high-end products, but also career-oriented and knowledgeable salesman. Magnolia was originally created in Magnolia, Washington, but was bought out by Best Buy a couple of years ago. Because of this, you can now see small rooms in local Best Buy's that are dedicated to higher-end products that are seamlessly under the Magnolia Hi-Fi retail brand. Thankfully, many of the original stores are still selling the same quality products and customer service that have made them such a great name in the first place.
In terms of avoidance, I'd have to suggest Audio Plus in Prescott, Arizona. To paint the picture, I'm in my late 20's, but look like I'm in my very early 20's. Not only did they not have very many products, but they didn't give me the time of the day. Three salespeople...none of which had the energy to welcome me or even ask if I needed any help. Granted, I didn't drive up in a Lexus, but it also wasn't like I was dressed in gangsta flare either. Instead, business casual, all the way up to a decent haircut!
If salespersons don't have the audacity to help their customers...I think it's more of a reflection of the company, than the customer.HT: RTi8s, CSi3, RTi4s, HSU ULS-15, Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH, Sunfire Cinema Seven.
