Now what?

Hi all. New to the forum. Started in 2008 with RTiA5 and a PSW125, an RM10 5-pack that includes some small surrounds and centre. Upgraded to a CSiA6 centre and last week the FXiA4s for surrounds. I'm using 2 RM's for Surround Backs only now.
I've set all the speakers to small, 80 as the crossover. I've bi-wired my mains and centre. Powering the setup is a Yamaha HTR-6060 (specs below). I could bi-amp the mains using my surround back channel but I need those for gaming.
The space is small, about 10ft between me and any speaker.
I use the system for movies and ps3. I use the calibration mic to setup the system and it sounds great to me but ... I've been advised that my receiver might be underpowered.
Is it likely I've not yet tapped into the polks potential? Can someone help me to justify getting a new receiver.
Or maybe an simple amplifier?

As for being underpowered, I'd say you could do much worse. You could also benefit from an external amp. -

I was thinking about a simple 2 channel amp and suggested some sort of used 'adcom 5?5' but my advisor spoke confidently about how they suffer from 'leakage'. I don't even know what an OHM is but 'leakage' I understand.
I can't describe sound yet, but I yearn for clarity at low volume levels since I'm in a condo. My neighbours must be angels cause they've only come knocking once but I know I'm turning it up too loud to hear what I think I should be hearing.
What do you think, a two channel amp for the fronts? Thanks! -

Your speakers are efficient and you say it sounds great, why do anything?
ANy 20+ year old SS amp has the potential for leaky or dried up caps. If you can find a nice deal on one that is working good or recently rebuilt then go for it. It will make lower level listening more detailed but then its like having a fast car that you can only do 55 MPH.
MIght try a ANthem Amp 1, they were made somewhere near you.

I work for CRA, dowtown Ottawa but live in Orleans.
An amp be it 2 ch or more will help, you will hear everything needed without having to turn it up. That is one of things I noticed when I bought my first amps. -

Welcome. I work in Brampton =P. Which Honda do you work for? I go to Suzuki Brampton sometimes for my bike parts.
Check out CanuckAudioMart website for good deals on local 2-channel amps. Good Adcom GFA-545, 555 or 555II, or newer 5400 usually go pretty cheap. Personally, I did not like how Adcom sounded with Polk speakers - too much forwardness and brightness. Carver will give you a bit calmer sound (TFM-24/25?). I found older HK Citation BJT-based amp really calmed down my Polk RT-series speakers and opened them up the most.
(I am sorry, I really don't like Yamaha - every speakers I tried with new(er) Yammy receivers/amps sounded way too bright to me.

Only two amps from Adcom suffered from some Elna caps. Those 2 amps were the 585, and the 565 mono block. All the others were free from the defective Elna caps. I ran a two channel amp for a while. You will need to setup the calibration to cut left and right channels.

They look badass considering they only put out 125 watts rms. I would imagine that is a very conservative rating and they probably have loads of dynamic headroom. -

If they are anything like the Ma700, which I had 2 of they kicked major butt. They are heavy and well built with the classic Marantz sound. If I had 200-250 extra and wanted to sell my Sonace, I'd buy these. Not to mention I don't have the space either for them in my audio cabinet for my 2 ch. -

There are plenty of floor level amp stands to be had. Mapleshade makes a really nice one with heavy brass footers and made of maple . . . but it is very expensive.

Not to thread jack....but I will and this is it, We have the Olympus Waterproof camera, this will be the first time I really get to use it and I have 3x 2gig chips just wating to be used. I took pics in a pool and while in the ocean but never swimming with fish and turtles.
Anyway to the OP, these amps would make a big difference on your set up.
