my new (used lol) pj questions

ok the questions are starting to stack up so i need to write them down.

i under stand there are different zoom levels that are easier on the bulb?

how often do you have to clean the screen? (understanding this is relative to the environment but an approx will certainly suffice).

can you leave the pull down model "pulled down " or must you return it when not in use?

what is the desired angle of pj to screen?

how critical is ambient temp? id like to be able to take the pj outside for "drive in viewing " on my deck.

i know this is a short list but i get clutter head so easy these days i had to do something with it. thanks for the info guys, dan

1. You can zoom as much as you like to fill the screen. Not much to worry about. (use the PJ calculator to determine throw distance)

2. You should clean your screen per your room environment. I usually wipe my screen down once every 3 months with a soft cloth.

3. Sure you can leave a pull down screen in the down position without problem.

4. Desired mounting location is flush with the screen or 6" below the top of the screen for optimal viewing. Do not use keystone features as it will degrade your image badly.

5. Ambient temp is relative and roughly the same as most TVs. If you are going to mount in a closet or Hushbox make sure it is vented for the projectors intake and exhaust airway. Most PJs have a fan inside for adequate cooling.

6. Sure you can bring a PJ outside for viewing, however you are putting the PJ at risk to dust, dirt, etc. If this is just a cheap throw away, by all means I would do that. If it's rather expensive (1500-9000 price range), then I would not personally take it outdoors.

ok the out door thing. i have a window at the rear of the proposed room. im considering a swivel ceiling mount and by that i could just spin the pj around and set the screen up on the deck? the outside thing is secondary. the pj is a vplaw 15(1700 or thereabouts) not a pro model but not to bad for a starter i dont think. the screen is a dalite 106. i believe the other parts were listed in another thread but when they get important ill relist them here. what part does humidity play on a screen(or projector for that matter) ive seen screens try to curl on the sides and dont know what causes that? is it humidity?

the sub issue is coming to a head. it looks like ill have the 15 in set to 30 hzand the 10.3 set to 20 hz. to some it might seem backwords but heres my thoughts. the subsonics are less often and the 10.3 wont have to work as often ortr as hard. the 15 will double as the 2.1 channel sub so it will be in use daily. any thoughts?

I have yet to see a swivel mount for a PJ. Once it's in the ceiling or on the wall your done. You are referring to waves in the screen and sometimes they will develop just by the screen hanging down and not enough tension on the screen to keep it flat. Most people opt for tab-tensioned screens in this regard as they will not develop waves at all. You kind of lost me on the sub issues, hard to read what your asking or saying.

well im buildign a sub. its a 15" with 2 dayton 240 plates. i just changed the port config to a single 4 inch 23.5 inches long in a 4.25 cubic ft cabinet. its some where around 198 htz and hly crap lol. any way that s all done (except for the piant job so it can kind of be set aside for now im sure. so is it plauseable to hang weights on the screen or attach with springs to the floor to keep tension?

thats supposed to be 18 or 19 hrtz. but im sure youall knew that and of course gave me the benifit of the doubt lol
