Hello all, new here and just bought myself a couple of goodies (in transit).

5.1 surround configuration

Receiver..ONKYO TX-NR1007B
Center...CS1 Black
Front....Monitor 40's Black
Rear.....Monitor 40's Black
Sub......PSW505 12" Black

I think i made a huge mistake getting the Monitor 40's instead of the 70's for fronts, reason is that the cherry 70's ( promo code only)wont match the rest of my set up, and the black 70's will cost a lot more .

Do you guys think the 40's will make a big difference over the 70's in my set up? Will be used for mostly music for now.Im still waiting for delivery and thinking on pulling the trigger on the black 70's.This is stressing me out.

On another note ,Also if possible, would the best way to hook up my psw505 to receiver is..
pre out sw1 from receiver to LFE IN (unfiltered) on sub ?

Thank you:)

im eyeing that avr your getting, so how about a review when you get to know it better :P . I think i would have gotten the 70s although its pretty much room size and listening taste that matter. you could always add the 70s later for a 7.1 congrats on the new setup.

As the poster above said, try out the 40's and if you don't like them, you can always get the 70's and do a 7.1 set up. You have a sub, so that should make up for the 40's lack of bass.

Then again, it does also matter how large your room is.

BTW, you could always buy the cherry 70's and a can of black spray paint!!!

Thanks man, yeah I'm already looking through the manual closely, and the possibilities seem endless ;) I hope we get along together ,thats the TX-NR1007 and i :p.
The one thing about this receiver is that no usb ,so upgrading firmware will have to be done online, and i don't like updating bios's or firmware that way
due to possibility of file corruption.

I'm gonna keep it in the computer room and hook it up to one of my high performance PC builds connecting with sound card optical out 5.1 for now.

I'm probably gonna stick to 5.1 due to room size.I just hope the 40's will hold up and sound solid.

The 40's are a very solid speaker, I have used them up fron on a few occasions and was pretty impressed. Just FYI though, the Black Monitor 70's are now on sale at the Egg for $174.99, they can't be beaten for that price. Move the 40's to the back and get yourself a pair of the 70's before they are gone, lol. Promo code EMCYNZT39.

LOL, those 70's are a steal for the price Newegg has them at, IMHO one of Polks best valued floorstanders. I love mine and personally like them better than their "replacement" the TSi 500 that I have on demo right now.
