Hi - I'm new to the forum - this is only my second post. I have a pair of RT800i's that are my main speakers in a HT. When I bought them (used), I noticed that one of the driver cones was separated from the rubber ring. It doesn't seem to affect the performance. I never followed up on taking the speaker to CC (when they were still in business) since the previous owner transferred a 10 year warranty to me. Every time I asked CC, they said I had to bring the whole speaker in. (I guess they didn't trust me to unscrew 4 screws to pull the damaged driver!) Anyway, I'll check when I get home tonight and pull the driver to get the part number. But if anyone beats me to it and can let me know where I can find a replacement at a reasonable price, I appreciate it. I think I priced one through Polk's replacement parts and it was pretty steep. Heck, I think I only paid about $150 or $200 for the pair 5 years ago.

Also, since the performance doesn't seem to be hindered, and everything else on that driver looks ok, is there any way to 'fix' the problem? Can it be glued, or will that cause more problems...?

Thanks much!

call Polk Audio customer service and see if they can help you out. I do believe that if it a blue color driver.. they may be out of those.. call to be sure though.

Also, mention to customer service you are a club Polk member.....

    and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome! The speakers are the "i" series, which I've always distiguished (other than the label obviously) by the blue colored speaker cones. I did try calling Polk, but it's after hours, so will try tomorrow. I seem to recall calling them a few years back and thought the price was in the $50 - $80 range (which seemed a bit high) - probably why I've just gone on with it as it is.

I pulled the speaker again and the model number is MW7202 (and in smaller print - BD7202) manufactured in October 2001. If anyone has any of these replacement drivers for sale, let me know. I'll also follow up with Polk customer service. Thanks again!!
