Need Help With Monitor 10b Value

I have a pair of 10B's I bought in 1988 (still have the original invoice and owners manual) that I have replaced with RTi70's. The 10B's have always been run with clean H/K power and NEVER been over-driven, nick/scratch free, and a pair of Levitation speaker stands which are angle/height adjustable.

I am not sold on the RTi70's yet, I am still breaking them in, but if they capture my ears and heart like the 10B's, I will be willing to part with the 10B's.

You guys know the market better than me, what would a fair price be for the speakers and stands? Your advice and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time in reading my post.

    I have seen them go for150-350$ I paid 150 for mine, vinyl / fair shape

    Fella has these on ebay right now. May help you in a while, but doubt they'll go with this listing just from the price and the way the seller has structured the listing price-wise, but will likely relist.

    Other thing to consider is whether to sell the stands with the 10b's or separately. Could offer the stands as an extra available to the buyer.

    My gut reaction is to hold on to them... keep them for a basement system or whatever. Classic classic Polks from the time when Polk was transforming from a small company to a well-established name in the industry. In my opinion, the Monitor series through the 80s was a HUGE factor in that transformation. I can't imagine ever letting go of my 7Cs... but never say never I guess.

    That said... I paid $160 for a used pair of Monitor 5jr+ that were in great condition. From that perspective, pushing $300 seems reasonable for 10Bs. AND.. given what $300 buys new, I think the 10s would be worth even over $300 to anyone who knows them. ****... new R20s list at over $200 a pair, and RTi28s list at over $320.. and the 10Bs will eat both of them for lunch in a heartbeat.

    Wonderful wonderful classic Polk sound.. the unbeatable SL2000 silver coil... enough solid bass to satisfy without a subwoofer. Short of desparately needing cash, and assuming all the drivers are in good shape, I wouldn't consider it for less than $300 - anything less and I'd keep them.

    Note to burdette:
    Your reply pushed me from the center! The RTi70's are sounding better with each passing day, they are a excellent match for the other Polk's I have. They sound great with DVD movies/concerts and DVD Audio music, but lack the "warmth" of the 10B's. I started building my Home Theatre when DPL came out and have made many component/speaker upgrades since, but always built around the 10B's. I ran my systems without a sub until a few years back when I purchased a PSW450 on close-out that I use only for DVD and DVD Audio.

    Thanks to your reply, I have decided to purchase a good receiver for the den and have it become my main music listening room. Now I can have my cake and eat it too! Thanks again for the idea!
