Besides the couple long delays for track repair I thought it was a great race. Hats off to Jamie Mac and his new team, he's a good kid and was nice to see him take the biggest win of his career. Stoked to see Dale Jr. come from 10th to 2nd in one lap, good way to start the season for him as well. Got to hand it to nascar this year for all the new rule changes - gloves are off and they're letting them race finally! This should be a kick **** 2010 for nascar fans!

Good racing for a change. This was almost like the late 60s/early 70s when I used to hit all the tracks. +1 on it may be a good year.

We'll see, I'm cautiously optomistic about actually feeling good about spending the time to watch NASCAR again.

The last laps were a flashback from the past to where "rubbin's racin'". I haven't seen that kind of actual racing for quite some time. It was refreshing. If this keeps up, I might actually start consistently watching it again.

Haven't done that since Dale died.

I was surprised to hear that it hadn't been paved since 1976. They need to do some serious work on that track The cars were grinding the road in many spots, especially where the repair happened. The track is even black in color where the cars slam down.

Do you think they could manage to have a race that doesn't end with a 1 or 2 lap dash to the finish line?

I thought this was a great race! Im very optimistic about this upcoming season.

I was ready to dump NASCAR after the last couple years of crap but my prayers have been answered and the "geniuses" that run NASCAR (Brian France and Mike Helton) have finally dropped their "nope, there is nothing wrong" attitudes and finally listened to the fans and drivers.

Theyve changed the aero package along with shocks and so on which makes for better driveability. In a few weeks that stupid 747 wing will be gone and theyll go back to the spoilers. All in all, it looks like things are getting better in NASCAR but most importantly, the guys that run NASCAR now realize there is something wrong and theyre trying to fix it.

I live in NASCAR country and the talk of the town, no matter where I went today was how folks really enjoyed that race. I'm actually looking forward to the next race for the first time in years.

F1, at the Daytona 500 opener? I highly doubt it. Too many drivers are too ancy to win the most prestigious race of the year.

the new rule of three tries at a green, white - checkered prevents (in most cases) the race from ending on a caution. there's always gonna be a mad dash at the end for position. I think the next race is cali.? not sure if its the sedona road course or not but there's a whole lot of turns on that track. I prefer the 200mph super speedways myself. I go to the michigan race every year and going back to bristol again this year too. nothing like seeing these cars up close and personal, feeling the power, smelling the fuel - tv does it NO justice!

Ah, yes.....the smell of Gordon hitting the wall. Feeling the cement particles smack your face followed by the wonderful smell of rubber as I smile in sweet satisfaction.

Oh, you lost me there for a second. Yes, there's nothing TV can do for actually being there in person.

    Circles???
    I don't think so.
OK mister one pass a race guy, maybe they generally only turn left but at least they have competition between the racers/cars on the track.

Boy, I hear ya on that one. The one thing that really gets me ready to turn a race off is when it takes SIX HOURS to run a friggin race.
Do you think they could manage to have a race that doesn't end with a 1 or 2 lap dash to the finish line?

This is close to being my major gripe about NASCAR and it happens all too often these days!

I really would like to see a race finish without the repeated cautions at the end that result in a drag race to the finish of 1 or 2 laps.

The whole six hour thing coupled with a dash to the checker made this a bad race for me. I like NASCAR but they need to fix that and the IROC cars that are all but identical they run now! There's absolutely no imagination when it comes to the cookie cutter cars they are running.

I'd love to see them forget about the green-white-checkered finish. No caution flags in the last 10 laps would make things very interesting.

interesting hell yes, but in that scenario I doubt if more than 10 cars would even see the checkered.

No ****. I get a little burnt out on that stuff. The track coming apart and subsequent delays made it impossible for me to watch the last ~30 laps.

I do think the new plate/aero package made for much better racing. I am looking forward to 'dega.
