What features are you looking for? Built in DD/DTS processors?

What type of video out's do you want?

    Cheers,

How about the JVC 723, progessive scan, built-in DD DTS decoder, outputs for coaxial and optical. S video out and also plays DVD audio for 100 bucks?

Well all of the above i suppose, S video out, digital coax and optical out, haven't really got into DVD-A but that would be a ++ so i could try that as my receiver has 5.1 audio inputs.. doesnt really have to be DD or DTS as my reciever does that but i would guess all the current models have that already anyways.. My TV isn't componet video compatable But my receiver is so that could also affect something down the road when/if we ever get a new T.V which i doubt will be anytime soon

Faster - This comment will come anyhow as far as DVD players go so here goes the link to Chroma Bug problem in DVD players:

    http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_2/dvd-benchmark-special-report-chroma-bug-4-2001.html

If you scroll towards the bottom, they recommend some players that do not have the Chroma Bug error, and Panasonic seems to be the only consistent manufacturer. I do not know any prices of the models listed, but the model numbers are there for your reference.

There are many fine choices for players in your range, that to me still have an excellent picture.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I've been extremely happy with the JVC XVS65, which was replaced by the 503. No jaggies, no chroma bug, no layer delays and the picture is simply stellar. Best $200 I ever spent on a player.

The JVC may be OOP, I bet Pete has one in his Magic Closet to sell on the cheap.

(not the ORIGINAL magic closet by any means, but relative nontheless).

I'll vouch for Pete too, stand up guy, takes GREAT care of his gear. Unless he makes a note, consider anything he sells as-new.

    Cheers,

I have the RP-62 and it is a fantastic DVD player. Not the heavest build quality but the eletonics are very good and I got it for ± $110 (and it may be cheaper now). Very good PQ in both progressive and interlaced.

I also have the RP-62 and cd's sound better on it than my old cd player. As far as audio outputs: It has digital optical only, no coax, and analog. Video : S-video, component video and the single rca cable. hope this helps.

I have it on my panasonic (sub out), but I have never used it. The player doesnt have DVD-A, nor does it do DD or DTS decoding, I think they just threw this in there to give you the option. Its not something I think many people with real home theatre systems use.

The analog outs and sub out is for someone using a stereo receiver or the analog stereo inputs on their TV (no digital processing). This way they can have stereo sound and have some bass. Remember, the majority of the people using a DVD player are not using any sort of processing ie: A/V reciever or pre/pro.

It's the JVC XV-D723, GOLD COLOR, DVD AUDIO/video PLAYER, PROGRESSIVE SCAN WITH REMOTE, top JVC player over a year ago, do a search in yahoo, great player, sit and collect dust in my magic closet, like the Russman said. I think the remote probably cost more than the player now.
