I ended up having stitching failure on the first pair I got. (still in warrantee so replaced with another pair - but a differnt color) I also did purchase the black/orange ones I mentioned above so I now have 2 pair and they look like these....

They are just awesome. It is exactly (or really close anyway) like being barefoot all the time. You do end up with a lot of people just staring at your feet, but you get used to it.

I am heading back down to disney in May and I plan to wear them all over the park.

I wear them everywhere now.... (that I can get away with anyway)

edit - one additional note is that my formally flat (or VERY low arched) foot is now developing arches. Amazing what happens when you let your foot work the way it is supposed to....

    Couple of questions.

    1. Classic vs. KSO

    2. The sizing chart is for the length of your foot. Was that good enough or did you find yourself wanting to go up or down a size?

    Thx

    1. KSO -
A little more versitile. (since it locks onto your foot - can be used in fast moving water and it will not come off. - also since the mesh upper locks around your ankle, sand and small rocks will not find its way into the shoe while you are out hiking around if you spend much time around those kind of surfaces)
    Looks better with Jeans
Has a 2mm EVA footbed. (little more cushion, but less minimalist than the classics)
Harder to get on. (takes a little longer - almost the time tying normal shoes would take, but not as fast as the flip-flop style of the classics.)

    Classics
Fits tight enough for running, hiking, just general walking around, but as you take a step, the sides bow out sligtly away from your foot and could allow sand in. (which would get uncomfortable quickly)
Looks better with shorts. (although the classics look better with jeans than the KSO's look with shorts in my opinion.)
No EVA footbed, all that is between you and the ground is 3mm of vibram rubber. (and I consider that a good thing)
Very fast to get on. While when you first get them, it can take 5-min per shoe :) I can pretty much just step into the classics now.

Overall, for my uses, the classics will be my main go-to shoe for the summer. They are super comfortable and easy to step into. I really do not do any activities that require the additional functionality of the KSO's. I am glad I have both, but the classics will just get more use from me.

2 - My foot was 10-3/8 long to my longest toe (not my big toe - the one next to it) That put me right betwen sizes on their chart. I went with a mens size 41 for both my shoes and while they were both snug at first, they are super comfortable now. I would say after owning them, you want as snug a fit as you can get that does not cause your toes to buckle at all. (my toes just touch the end caps of the shoes, but do not force the toe to bend at all when standing)

If you cannot try them on locally, your best best is to purchase the 2 most likely sizes and plan to return the pair that does not fit best. Also be aware, that for whatever reason, the all black in KSO's and classics seem to run a little smaller than other colors so if you have wide feet or high arches, you may want to bump a size up for those.

just finished reading 'Born to Run', it was a fun read. Barefoot Ted is a big fan of the 5fingers, google or youtube his name. Going barefoot makes lots of sense, we can blame the poor condition of our feet on running shoes.
