steveinaz. please elaborate if need be but to me that article in short says " i spent a bunch of time and effort proving on paper that the ear is essentially a component in the grand system". no? -
Yep, but I found the particulars interesting none the less.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

i found it particularly interesting that it was a discernable difference from ear to ear but could be measured. the more distortin is better thing. did i read it right ? more or higher thd is ok as it changes where in the sound spectrum the distortion is prevailant. thus "carrying" audible distortion out of audible range?

I have read that article a few times before. I ran across it when I was googling my 3 Dared pieces. Many just don't realize how complex the human aural system is and all the components that make up an audio signal.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
though the science of it is very complex. the premis that another "piece" of the puzzle has a measurable effect on the whole of the apparati isnt all that hard a concept to fathom. in fact it would be suprizing to me if there was evidence to the contrary. good article ,however old it may be.
