Good story and question!

Hi all,

It has been about a year since I have been on these forums. All that time, I have been enjoying my Polk speaker system. I have RTi70s, a CSi40, and FXi30s. Well, I decided to rearrange my home theater equipment and so I ordered a new TV/Audio console from Standout Designs. To make room for the new console, I took all my equipment off of the existing stands. We had been having a problem with mice and I actually trapped 2 mice in the past 2 nights, in the area of my A/V equipment. When I disconnected my CSi40, I suspected that maybe the mice had been inside it, since it is ported. Well, I was right! I took the speaker apart (carefully), and it was full of mouse droppings and it looked like they had used the batting inside as a bed! I carefully vacumed out the speaker cabinet and cleaned it up nicely.

Now the question: When I took the speaker apart, I noticed that the batting on the left side of the speaker was around the left port, while the batting on the right side of the speaker was actually over the right port. Does anyone know if this is how the batting should be inside the cabinet?

Forgive me if this is not the right area for this story/question. Please let me know if I should post this question to actual Polk guys.

Thanks,

Ray

LOL - We had a cat up until about a few months ago and you are right. We didn't seem to have such a problem with mice. To date, we have trapped five (yes 5)!

I can't answer your question but I can tell you to be very careful with mouse droppings especially inhaling any dust from them as they are riddled with some diseases and can make you very, very sick.
